Once again Della's sinful father has consumed several unknown drugs and alcohols. He tries to hide the darkness in his eyes but she can see right through him. As he rummages all night around the house looking for something, or as he claims the "little green man" she over hears him say. Della's grandmother so worried and somehow confused tries to calm her intoxicated son down. Della was raised by that wise women and dreads seeing her so worked up over an addict.
After Della's father is finished being a fool and at least acts sober. She is able to see her father again but she knows it won't last long. The next day all is forgiven and he comes up with a lie that it won't happen again and he'll get better. But his daughter knows this cycle, he's good for a moment then he's out of it. She only wants the best for her dear father, a man she's grown apart from. One day she's not going to recognize him.
