The mirror was a portal, it took me from my home in New York to... Paris. Yet it was not close to what I had imagined Paris to be. I was toppled into a gray stone establishment and just in case you're wondering, yes I am now in "The Marvel Institute for Juvenile Delinquents."

The perfect place to hide.

Of course, this is only temporary, in order to stand a chance in the outside world I need to train, or at least I was told, but gee, it was nice knowing that I would be dead in 5 seconds flat if I ever came across any sort of strong magic user, be it warlock, demon, or worse, angel.

And considering what I am exactly, encoutering any of the choices above were veeerrryyyy high.

Last night when I had just arrived here, "arrived" being another word for toppling out of a mirror in the nurse's office, I was greeted by one of the workers in this establishment, Miss Emma Waters, but as she insisted, just Emma.

She had explained to me who I was.

Surprisingly, it wasn't that hard believing her.

I sighed, there was so much that I knew know, and so much there was still left to know,

I thought back to yesterday...

"Take of your clothes" she ordered,

"WHAT?" I nearly jumped out of my skin. Wonderful first impressions: check.

She sighed, "First of all, no I do not have any sort of interest in you, I just want to see the scars on your back."

I looked at her, my mouth hanging open

She looked at me, raised her eyebrows, and kindly closed my mouth.

How in the world did she know about my scars?

Dad had told me I had gotten them in an accident when I was too little to remember. Wait. Considering all circumstances I shouldn't be relying too heavily on lame explanations right now.

I took off my top, and showed her my back, and she splayed her fingers across the two jagged lines slanting across my back.

And she dug her nails in them. Hard.

I arched my back up in pain. "AH!"

"What the heck was that?!" I demanded an explanation,

"Your mother sealed your wings." She frowned,

"Now this is going to be complicated."

And it all just went downhill from there.

Apparently, my mother had sealed my wings with a type of spell so I wouldn't be discovered, but it was a spell that could be undone. It would just be excruciatingly painful, another piece of information which was also nice knowing. Today Emma would be removing the spell.

I walked down the comfortably lit hallways of the institute, strolling into my newly assigned room. The numbers on the metal plate: 68

The room was simply furnished with two beds against the walls and wide windows flooding the room with sunlight. I had only brought with me my bag so I hooked that on the bedpost.

Emma had explained to me that, in reality no one in this place was actually mentally disturbed or anything.

In fact, this place is an interesting accumulation of all sorts of people gifted with different types of magic. Most of them tend to be around my age, since when their powers go out of control, and their ordinary parents don't know what's happening.

So they usually go from one place to another being labeled as "abnormal" or "troublemaker" until the owner of this establishment, Mr. Witt uses his influence to place them here where they can learn more about their powers and how to control them.

Nephilims are exceedingly rare though, and half-angels like me are powerful and more in danger than any other type of magic user. Though that technically isn't the right term for me, since angels are a different species from humans altogether.

Sprawled on the bed in my new shared room, all the while contemplating the past events that baffled me yet at the same time I completely understood I breathed out words , "Dad..." A single tear rolled down my cheek, "Mom... where are you?"

The door swung open.
