Devil's Daughter

Prologue

                The scar that laid across his left cheek was still visible, even after centuries had passed. On that day, he was still an angel, young for his kind. He was always a little misfit. Pulling pranks and breaking small rules, but this time he had broken the biggest rule of them all.

The Path of Sorrow is a hole made of stone bricks at the top that formed into dirt walls the further in it goes. To anyone new to heaven, it would seem like a normal well. Only, instead of water at the bottom, there lied fire and the corrupt souls that couldn't pass through the golden gates. For years, these souls stayed in the underworld, never to know life again, until now.

Only certain angels could go near The Path of Sorrow, and certainly none of these young angels were allowed.

As the young lad stared into The Path of Sorrow, a stone brick, he was gripping onto, got loose and slipped into the hole. His wings made useless as air pounded onto his back, for he was falling with his face towards the sky. Once he hit the burning ground, his cheek was burned, which created one of the scars that will stay with him until the end of time.

Someone found him and brought him to God, who looked down at the poor boy and said, in a thunderous voice, "Since you seem so intrigued about hell you shall become its Lord. You will watch over those souls and you will heal them, so they can return to Earth. You will never be allowed to go to Earth or return to heaven, unless I call upon you."

After being banished to hell the months passed slowly. Until one fateful day when he saw a most unusual soul. Yes, it was dark and corrupt like the others and he would have let it pass by, but he saw a glint of light as it fell through the Path of Sorrow.

He motioned for the soul towards him and as it touched the burning ground it formed into a beautiful young woman. Her hair was long and brown, her eyes were a faded green, and her skin was smooth and pale. He saw the glint of light in her eyes.

She stepped towards him and kissed his scar lightly. He was astonished at her boldness because most feared him. After that moment he took her to his castle that God arranged for him to live in, and there she stayed. There they fell in love, there they got married, and there she gave birth to his only child. A beautiful baby girl who had black hair like her father and green eyes like her mother.

Unfortunately, the women had to be reborn back on Earth, so she faded from hell not to long after the child was born. He was heartbroken, but made sure to give the little girl all the love he could offer. Being half immortal, she was able to stay with her father, but no one knows what would happen if she ever went to Earth.
