Two days prior

<ESMERALDA> Herring was rather peculiar. Her neighbours thought she was over her head, the police thought she was bonkers and overall, her quiet town hated her.

So, on the sixth of the sixth, she packed her bags and left, never to be heard from again.

"Mog!" She called for her ginger cat. The overstuffed fluff-ball was nowhere to be found.

Leaping over a pile of books and ducking under overgrown vines, Esmeralda found her cat sitting on the kitchen counter, looking sour.

"What's got you all upset?" She asked the cat, putting her hands on either sides of her waist.

"It's not my fault you forgot to leave the door open!" The cat replied, letting out a grumble.

"We've moved to London, I've got a job and you've got cans of food to last you a lifetime!" Esmeralda said excitedly, drawing out a stick from nowhere.

Mog grumbled and pulled at his whiskers.

"Do you really have to bring that out?" He whined.

"It's a wand and you can shut your gob! Now, let's go outside!" Esmeralda summoned her jacket and shoes, got out a leash and dragged the cat out.

People have the pair some weird looks as it wasn't everyday that you see a woman walking a cat.

The duo walked by a cafe when a man grabbed Esmeralda and dragged them through a dark front door.

Immediately, the witch got into defence mode and started jabbing at the man with her elbows. Mog complied and scratched at his legs.

"Ow! Sherlock!" The man called and a tall lean man hurried down the steps.

"You've done it. Good." He grabbed Esmeralda by her coat and she dragged Mog with her, up the long steps.

"What do you want? Is this some sort of sick human trafficking ploy?" She asked, her eyes sharply piercing into the icy blues of his.

"I think John would have left already if that was the case." The man grumbled and opened the door, gesturing her to go inside.

Esmeralda shook her head, Mog silently cheering at her in her brain. She put down the cat and crossed her arms, feeling her wand in her pocket.

The man, presumably 'Sherlock', nodded his head slowly. "Well. We can do this the hard way or the hard way."

"Do your worst." She whispered and the man walked inside the flat.

"Well. I'm John Watson." The other, shorter man greeted her. She awkwardly turned to look at him. He looked scruffy and somehow had given her a bottle of water?

"Pleasure." She sarcastically grumbled and thought back at her options.

A) Chuck the bottle at John Watson's head, grab Mog and dash out?

B) Wait to see what this Sherlock could do and then throw the bottle at his head?

C) Induce John and grab Mog and water bottle and run?

D) Run and leave the cat behind.

If she tried, she could take down the tall one but she didn't want to test any of the two men.

She could use her wand... but Esmeralda's golden rule was to use it in complete danger and nothing else.

Not that she was in complete danger... was she? What if they killed poor Mog, drugged her and shipped her off to who knows where?!

The door slam shut, making Esmeralda jump in shock. Sherlock had brought out a syringe, making John Watson shriek in anger.

"You're bloody joking, Sherlock! Drug them?!" He asked, flapping his arms about like a bird.

"Well-." He was cut off by John's incoherently screamed words.

"WHAT?!" John screamed at his face.

"It's oka-." Sherlock tried but went into shock as John started shouting.

"NO IT'S NOT. IT'S NOT OKAY TO DRUG SOME COMPLETE STRANGER FOR AN EXPERIMENT!"

The two men got into some heated argument but Esmeralda didn't care. She quickly grabbed Mog from the floor, and the water bottle, tapped the wall behind her with her wand and jumped through.

Leaving the two arguing like a married couple.

John looked back to apologise to Esmeralda and hopefully send her on her way before she called Lestrade but she wasn't there.

Vanished quicker than a cake on Mycroft's plate.

"Well. I guess we have to find another lab rat." Sherlock casually muttered, making John punch him in the face.

"YOU COMPLETE IDIOT!" He screamed.
