Dedicated to:
wow_loveitIt was a chilly Tuesday night, rain cried down as every thing became dreary and dim. It was depressing, Lucy walked down the empty streets, her hand rested on her chest that held the golden locket her—now ex fiancé—had given her when he asked her out, three years ago. The memory almost felt faded, as if it were trying to be erased, and help Lucy move on from something so dreadful, she had caught him cheating.
It seemed like her whole world came crashing down—her whole world revolved around him. Now she knew about the lie that he told her so many times.
‘‘I love you,’’
Lucy held back her tears; she was determined not to cry for someone who didn’t deserve her sadness. Yet it felt as if her hard efforts to prevent her tears were all in vain. Tears left her eyes her throat felt dry and a feeling of grief filled her heart. As if she could never find love again.
“Why are you crying?” Lucy looked up taken back by the man who had approached her, he didn’t look like he was drunk—or wanted something from her. “Well?” He pushed.
“Oh.” Lucy sniffed, clearing her tears. “I… Broke up with—”
“Boyfriend?” Lucy shook her head at the mans guess, her tears hadn’t allowed her to get a good look at him, she could feel his presence move to next to her sitting on a bench. “Come sit,” Lucy mentally shrugged.
Lucy sat down on the bench, taking a breath. “Now, why did you two break up? A fight?” Who was this stranger? Yet, despite this question—Lucy felt as if she could spill her heart. And she did.
First, he was her fiancé—she showed him the locket, she told the stranger of all the memories she held, as if he were a diary, and she a young teenager going through her first break up. Upon finishing, the man only gazed at Lucy—she could finally see him—no longer crying, he was rather handsome. After everything the man introduced himself.
“My name is Natsu Dragneel.” Lucy’s eyes widen. No way. Dragneel—that was the surname of one of the top ten riches—and most eligible bachelors. “I’m guessing by your expression—you’ve heard of me?” Lucy blushed a bit at his laugh.
“Well, who hasn’t” she responded a bit too quickly. “Your name is everywhere on magazines.” Natsu laughed at Lucy. “Um… I’m Lucy by the way.” Lucy introduced herself hesitantly.
“Beautiful name.”
“Yeah, my mom picked it.” Natsu smiled at her, “thanks… for listening to me drone on and on. I really needed someone to talk to, and you just happened to come by, I really appreciate it.” Natsu smiled. “What?”
“Lucy, you know why I’m single?”
“You get more publicity?” Natsu burst out laughing. Lucy stood—watching him confused. Natsu shook his head smiling.
“No Lucy, because like many heartbroken people—I’m scared, scared that the next woman who comes along wants to break my heart like the last.” Lucy continued to listen, resting her hands on her lap. Looking down at her feet. “Your afraid.” Lucy’s eyes widen, her heart beat and she felt tears well up once more.
“Yeah, I guess I am…” She wiped her tears away—looking opposite direction of Natsu. “He was my—”
“World?” Natsu finished, Lucy hummed in response. “Lot’s of things seem to be that way.” Natsu added. “People come and go, and despite letting them go seems like the hardest thing, you still do it, and one day in the future you’ll look back and realize what you thought mattered now—barley matters in the future.” Lucy nodded, her heart felt relieved almost, as if something was lifted. She could never marry a man who could’ve just cheated on her, and lied to her their entire time together. “It’s all about perspective Lucy, you never know where you’ll end up in the future.” Lucy smiled looking up at Natsu, who suddenly blushed upon gazing at her smiling face.
To him it seemed as if it were radiating—reflecting against the moonlight.
“Thank You, Natsu,” Lucy replied in a harmonious tune-like voice.
“Huh, oh… Uh… Yeah.” Lucy’s eyes widen at his sudden stutters. Turning to look away. “Huh—hey!” Natsu pulled her chin to look at him. Lucy blushed gazing at him—he was much handsomer then the paparazzi said he was—or showed him to be. He dropped his hands.
Lucy smiled. “Natsu?” She asked for his attention. Getting a hum.
“Where do you see yourself in the future?” She asked.
“No longer on the top ten bachelors list,” he laughed. Lucy’s heart beat feeling his fingers intertwine with hers.
She smiled.
