The next morning, I awoke to a loud crash coming from the Grand Hall. I sat up and looked out the tiny window. It was but not yet daybreak. "I wander who is up this late?" I mumbled to myself curiously, as I slipped out of bed and put on fresh clothes, an ugly sweater I received last year and a pair of whitewashed jeans, with sandals and my tall animal socks. I created open my fogged glass door and slipped out silently. I snapped my fingers, and instantly, I turned transparent and unseeable. Sometimes, being a
robot has its perks. I walked silently down to the Grand Hall, and it's normally bright dome, which is clear and shows the sun, now was fogged as all the other windows and doors were. The tall, white walls seem to stretch on for miles, and the grand marble floor was sparkly and freshly cleaned, and clean organized desks were all in a row. I did not see anything suspicious until I looked to my right and sow a man, who was twenty two years, seven months, and two days old, according to my scan, was hovering over a desk anxiously. He had messy, curly brown hair, gray, kind eyes, and freckles on his smooth, young face. He wore a white buttoned shirt, with black khakis, and shiny brown shoes, and a long, bioluminescent robe. I suddenly understood. He was the new president. He was, in my opinion, quite cute.
"Come on, Obero. Get it together!" He murmured to himself. His name was Obero. What a unique name, I thought dreamily. I am being silly. That would never happen. I can't like him.
Without knowing what I would do, I snapped my fingers and became visible again. I walked over to him, just because he hadn't noticed me yet.
He looked up, gasped and jumped.
"Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to frighten you!" I exclaimed.
Obero blew out a breath he had been holding.
"It's fine. Who are y-oh." He looked at my turning eyes and stopped.
"You really are miraculous. You must be Lynn. I've been dying to meet you!" He held out a rough hand. He didn't truly belong in this office.
I took Obero's hand and shook it up and down twice.
He grinned.
"Now," Obero said curiously,"What are you doing here at two am?"
I smiled and replied,"Well, for starters, it's two oh five am." He looked impressed just as Mazy did.
"And I am here because I heard a noise coming from the Grand Hall. You see, my bedroom is just to the right." I exclaimed, pointing to my hall.
"Ah. You must have heard me drop my Pencil booster." Obero laughed.
I gave him a puzzled look.
"A pencil Booster isn't in my database." I said.
"That's probably because I created it...wait...what IS in your database?" Obero stared at my clicking eyes.
"Well, I have information on people, plants, and animals. As well as contracts, forms, and facts, and social media pages, and phone numbers, and a star chart-"
"A Star Chart?" He cut in.
"Yes," I smiled. "I has all the stars in the entire galaxy. I've always been fascinated."
Obero gave a gasp and jumped in excitement. "Me too! And I've always wanted to go-"
We both finished the sentence in unison,"Between Alpha Centauri And Proxima Centauri!"
We both stood there and grinned.
"You know," Obero finally said, snapping the silence in half. "You understand me more then anybody else I've ever known."
I smiled,"I feel the same way about you."
"I won't even ask you, Lynn, if you know what's going on with me?" Obero asked curiously.
"Well, your mother decided to go to Earth for a study job for Ceres, never to return. And you, her son, Obero Angle, must take over Ceres. In my opinion, I think you'll do fantastic." I looked at him and continued to smile.
A small heat rose up inside of me and my eyes turned faster. I was nervous.
Nervous! I can not have a crush on the president of Ceres. I'm a robot for heaven's sake. Even though I can feel human emotions, I never knew I could feel love. But maybe, possibly, truly, that was because there was never anybody here for me to love.
