Heading back to my room after that-that spark.....maybe I got a little to excited. I skipped down the hall to my room, causing a banging and scratching noise against the tile floor. My breaths got faster. Obero was still there.
I turned, and sure enough, he had watched me skip. He started to laugh, and I let out a nervous giggle as well.
"I'll see you later," I blushed (if I even can blush. I hope I can't, because I totally think I did just now).
He smiled and started walking the opposite direction.
I turned silently and started walking normally. I sighed.
There is no way I have a crush on the new boss! I had to follow his orders, conjure up his coffee (which, based on my scan, he seems like a peppermint mocha will suit him best), as well as help answer his questions. He might even want to run tests on me!
I was lost in thought my the time I reached my bedroom door.
"No way," I mumbled. It was already four thirty. Mazy is out. Mazy is hanging around Obero.
"Your being ridiculous. He can't be with me." I said sternly to myself.
I heard a sound of laughing coming down the cold corridor, coming towards me. Mazy. But with who?
"Lynn!" Mazy gasped. "Well, this is President Jogmim." She motioned towards Obero, whom she has linked arms with. I felt a deep pang of jealousy go through me like a dull knife.
"Oh, Ms. Gerome," he looked at Mazy. "To Lynn, it is and will always be Obero," He was now looked and me, and winked and I felt a tingle of delight go down my throat through my whole mechanical body.
Mazy just looked puzzled. "What? Even I can't call you that!" Her tone was almost a snap.
"I know," Obero smiled at me. "But Lynn is special."
"Oohhhh," Mazy said. "I get it. You want to be close to the robot just so you can use her." Mazy was trying to hurt me. I know it.
"Mazy!" Obero said in almost a screech. "Of course that's not why! But, Lynn, she understands me. We are friends."
"And we are not?" Mazy looked jealous.
Obero shook is head. "Mazy, you are my for now assistant."
Mazy got frantic. "FOR NOW?!?!" She screamed.
"Calm down. Calm down." Obero almost glared at her.
This was one of the happiest moments of my life.
It was daybreak, and the warm sun was now glowing and filling the halls with light.
Mazy, did not seem to be enjoying this.
Obero said to her sternly,"Yes. I'm appointing a new Vice President."
Mazy set her hands on her hips. "And who will THAT me Jogmim?"
Obero looked over and me and smiled warmly. Obero really treated me like a human. This was the first time in my life I was equal. Nothing more, nothing less. But, there was a glint in his bright eyes that told me, he liked me back. Maybe I was more to him, but not because of my computer system.
"Lynn will be my Vice President." He announced proudly.
I gasped with pleasure.
"You want her? A piece of metal-"
"She's not a piece of metal. She's a beautiful, intelligent being that will he fully capable taking your office. The one right next to mine." Obero cut off.
I smiled.
Mazy stormed off.
"Obero, thank you so much....but we barely know each other! Are you sure you want me to be your Vice President?" I asked curiously.
"Lynn, I feel as though I already know you. And you-" he stepped towards me.
"Are the best thing to have ever happened to me."
I smiled. "Obero, we need to get to know each other better."
Obero smiled back. "I agree. So, why don't, at 7 pm, we meet in the Grand Hall and I take you to dinner?"
I giggled. Then realized,"I'm not allowed to leave the building."
"WHAT?!?!" He gasped. "We must change that! And I will! Lynn, pack your things and I'll meet you at Mazy's old office I'm exactly five minutes. Your moving!"
"But....there is no bed, Obero, and I live here. I can't have Mazy's office."
He laughed, and it reached his glowing gray eyes. "Nonsense! We're getting you a real house!"
"Thank you, Thank you!" I gasped as he ran off.
Obero and I-maybe we do have hope together?
And, pushing the door open to my old room, I strongly believed-everything was going to be alright.
