The voice of a familiar man woke him up. With a annoyed grumble Mark opened his eyes and found himself in a small office which he shared with his best friend. He leaned back up in his chair and whiped his tired eyes with both hands. A loud thumb made him almost jump out of the black lethern office chair. “What the hell do you think you’re doing, Fischbach? This is a wokingplace and not your home!” the rough voice of his boss yelled at him waiting for an excuse. His eyes had dark circles underneath like he hadn’t slept for years and his white thin hair went in every direction. “I know, Sir. It won’t happen again”, Mark mumbled not really giving a shit. After his employer left the office with two desk and a plant in it, the man wrinkled his nose and pushed his glasses with one finger back up.

He stopped caring about his job since his friend and him made enough money to survive through helping people and hunting ghosts. Also his boss is a real dickhead. He’s always picking on him and tries to make it the worst time at his job.

Mark turned his pc back on and started checking his mails as Wade went in with a chocolate bar in his mouth and two cups of coffee in both hands. He handed Mark one and smiled, chewing on the chocolate.

After taking a sip he had felt way better and praised the god of coffee. “Grant really hates on you, hu?” his best friend asked while sitting down and putting everything on the table. “Yeah man, he’s just jealous that I’m better looking than him” the muscly man answerd, stood up and sretched his arms with a deep groan. His stomach grumbled as well so he decided to get some food.

“I’ll get some food, hopefully Grant won’t catch me on the way”

“Alright but take care of yourself, dude” Wade answered with a caring sound in his voice but Mark just waved annoyed and left the room.

Wade were always caring too much about his friend, since the older one had been through a hard phase of real depression. It was a rough time not only for Mark himself but also for his best friend who was always ready to rush to his home. But when he started to re-connect to some other friends he also started to talk about strange things happening. Whatever that thing was it helped him getting out of his little circle of depression.

Mark went through a long hallway, on the right and left were a series of doors until he ended up at a small staircase leading his way through a big hall. No one was here except the kind lady standing behind the information table and smiling at him as he walked by. “Taking a little brake?” she asked with her lovely voice but  he just nodded, smiled back and left the big building.

Right as he took his first steps outside, as if someone watched him, his phone vibrated in his pocket. Sighing he took it out and answered the call. “Fischbach”

“Hey Mark, Minx here. Do you have a minute? I got great news for you” the familiar high voice of a woman caught his attention. It took him two - three minutes before he got a silent spot and finally answered. “Yeah sure, what is it?”

“Alright, I think we got a new case going on. A woman called this morning and asked for us to come investigate a hotel. The Lighthouse-Inn, New London, Connecticut. So, she told me that several people, guests and staff heard weird noices and seen shadows moving around after dark. Some claim to have seen the ghost of a woman in a wedding dress who actually died at her wedding. Sometimes they had seen her while reading or walking around the building. It think we should check it out but what do you think?”

Mark listened concentrated and after Minx finished giving him all the information he moaned quietly while thinking about it. “I’ll give it a thought and then I will call back after Wade said his opinion but it already sounds interesting”

“Okay, awesome. Bye”

Mark hang up the phonecall and head back into the office totally forgetting about his food but he waited for a new case for weeks so he’s really excited to hear Wades thought on that.

The two men agreed to the story that it sounded solid enough to drive to New London, Conecticut, so the black haired man called Minx back and set a time for the group to meet.

The day went like every other one, Grant raged a few more times about Mark and Wade doing nothing then talking about stupid ghost, what wasn’t true, and after leaving they both got some food and met with Molly, Wades wife. She was always a really nice person and friend but now she just forced him to go shopping. Of course only joking around and they both started giggling before leaving him alone. “Sorry, I have to go with her before she’ll kill me. Take care, dude”, he patted his shoulder, smiled slightly until leaving the café with Molly. Mark just nodded with a grin and followed them with a blurry stare.

"Can I offer you something else?" a female voice distracted his thoughts and he looked up. A small women stood beside him and smiled lovely. "No thanks, just the bill please" The man smiled back.

Before paying and heading back home his phone rang once more in his pocket. Again, it was Minx. “I have investigated about the hotel and I found even more interesting stuff! Can’t wait to tell you and the others”

“Okay, now I’m curious. Can’t you tell me now?”

“Nah, I’m sorry but I don’t want to creep you out just yet” she giggled right into my ear before hanging up without giving any informations. I wonder what could be more frightening than people hearing noices and seeing shadows.
