Dwight made a tsking noise with his tongue as he shook his head. "Now Lily, why'd you go runnin' off like that? You know Negan is not gonna like this."
Lily felt slight relief that Negan didn't know about their disappearance. Daryl still had a chance to make it.
She stood her ground as Dwight walked towards her, stolen crossbow in hand. "Now you best come with me back to the Sanctuary before he does find out. I'm sure he won't be too happy to know he lost one of his best girls."
"I'm not his girl," Lily said through gritted teeth. "I'm not Negan."
Dwight whistled and threw his head back with a laugh. "You spend a few days out of your home and suddenly you think you're someone new, don't ya?"
He stepped closer, his half burned face too close for comfort with hers. "Now I said, ya best come back with me." He reached for her wrist and pulled her towards him forcefully.
He was stronger than her, but not smarter. She nodded her head to him and willing followed him back through the woods. Every second that they walked she thought of an escape plan. She could run back towards the farmhouse, but he'd probably shoot her.
She could reach for her gun, but she only had a few rounds left. Her mind worked at a million miles a minute, but none of the plans would work in her favor. Soon they were in front of the farmhouse that had been her home for the last week. Daryl was nowhere to be seen, but she spotted the truck still parked in hiding.
Her best option at that moment was to go back with Dwight and beg Negan for forgiveness. The only thing she had left for him to take from her was her life.
No, She argued with herself, she wouldn't go out like this. So on a whim, she thought of a plan. They rounded the farmhouse and a motorcycle came into view. It was Daryl's, just like the crossbow Dwight held tightly on.
"So Dwighty Boy," She said using Negan's nickname for him that she knew he despised. "How did you get those burns? I mean you must have crossed him right?"
This set him off, he quickly turned to her and pointed the crossbow at her face. "You shut your whore mouth," he spat.
She held her hands up, a smirk evident on her lips. "I'm just asking for my sake. I mean now I'm that I've crossed Negan, i'm sure he will do something to me."
Dwight seemed to calm down slightly, his shoulders slumping. "Yeah, I guess you're right. But you're one of his girls, I'm sure he'll cut you a break."
She waited for a second when Dwight looked away, her hand hovering over her pistol. Luckily, a branch snapped in front of him and he turned his back to her.
Grabbing her gun and turning off the safety, she held it at the back of his head. "Don't move," She said as deep as her voice would allow.
Dwight chuckled as he turned around, "What are ya gonna do, kill me?"
"That was the plan actually," She held her ground, arms locked in place. The gun was now pointed directing at his face as she watched him intently, waiting for him to try something. "Put your weapon down, slowly."
He held up one hand in surrender and placed the crossbow at his feet. "What's your big plan, Lily? Knock me out and run away with Mr Dixon? Negan will find you. Once he sees you, me and Daryl are missing, he's going to come out personally himself."
He was trying to threaten her, make her feel scared.
"You think Negan gives two shits about me? He has plenty of wives now, all younger and stupider than me."
Dwight put his hands down to his side, causing her to move her finger to the trigger. "Don't try anything funny. Push the crossbow to me and get on your knees."
"Damn now I see why Negan made you his wife. You take control, don't you?" He said with a smug look.
"Shut up and do what I say!" Her voice didn't shake and it echoed through the woods.
He got quiet and followed her orders. She bent down to grab the crossbow, looping the strap on her shoulder. She watched as he got on his knees and looked up at her.
"You won't make it. Ya know that don't you, Lily? Once you're a Savior, you can never go back to how things were before that."
He took a deep breath and continued, "Negan took everything from me, Sherry, my best friend, everything."
Lily remembered Sherry, his wife, before she ran away. It had only been a few weeks earlier, right when Daryl came to the Sanctuary. She always had a sad look on her face and she never said much. Her leaving gave Lily the courage to do the same. She could be dead for all she knew.
He was trying to distract her, let her guard down. "That's what Negan does, Dwight. He takes everything you have from him and he makes you his."
she stepped closer, her gun inches from his sweat ridden forehead. "Don't make me be like him, Dwight. Just leave. Go back and tell them you found us dead, that we got trapped and turned to walkers."
She reached for her chest, her gold locket secured under the fabric of her dirty tank top. It was her friends, her grandmother had given to her before all this happened and she gave it to Lily before she died.
"Take him this," She ripped it from her neck, throwing it beside Dwight's feet. "He knows I'd only take this off if I was dead. I don't care if he believes you or not, but don't you dare tell him we survived." She bent down in front of Dwight till they were eye level, her gun now pointed directly at his heart.
"I swear on my dead family's graves, that if I find out you tell Negan we made it, I'll personally slice your throat myself."
Dwight looked terrified and Lily too feared what this world had done to her, but she wasn't going to apologize. His eyes wouldn't meet her and she felt like she had finally broke him. She pushed her gun deeper into his exposed chest, "Now what do you have to say."
He willed himself to look at her and they met eyes. "I am Negan," He said quietly, but in one quick motion he head butted her and suddenly Lily's world went black.
