Imagine coming home after a long day at work. You're exhausted and walk into your room, ready to pass out in bed, just to wake up and do it all over again when you see Luke in a nice jacket, fixing his hair in the mirror. "Hey babe, how was your day?" He asks and cheerfully smiles at you. "Shit, Luke I completely forgot it was date night." You and Luke had been married for almost 4 years and Thursdays were always date night. "That's alright hun, you've still got time to change." "But... I'm so exhausted and look like a grumpy troll and-" "Hey, don't you dare say that," Luke cuts you off and walks to you, taking both of your hands in his larger ones. "You do not look like a troll. If you're too tired, we don't have to go." He smiles sweetly but you can tell he's trying to cover up his disappointment. "Absolutely not, I want to go," you smile back and squeeze his hands. "Just let me get changed." He nods and you walk into the bathroom, running some water over your face and combing your tangled hair. You throw on a sundress and sandals. "This ok?" You ask him timidly. "Perfect," Luke says as his eyes light up and he gives you a quick kiss. "Let's go." He holds your hand and heads to the door. "Don't we need the car keys?" You ask, confused. "Nope, not tonight." You walk out into the warm summer night, hand in hand. The sun is just beginning to set over the river across the street and the breeze is light. You walk in a pleasant silence with Luke until you get to the park a few blocks away, with rolling hills, benches, a few trees, and the river running by. He leads you to a bench and there are smoothies and popcorn waiting there. "Luke- this is where we had our first date!" He nods and takes a seat while you take it all in. "Wasn't it around this time of year, and during the sunset?" He nods again, proudly, and hands you the strawberry smoothie before grabbing his own banana smoothie. "We were eating these same things! Popcorn from a vendor walking by and smoothies from a food truck parked over there! You're perfect," you smile and sit on his lap, sipping your smoothie and popping a piece of popcorn into Luke's mouth. "It's one of the best memories I have," he smiles and says to no one in particular, gazing into the sunset. "I thank God every day that you agreed to go out with me." He looks at you dreamily and you giggle, teasing him by saying "Where would we be if I had done the sensible thing and said no?" He shakes his head and whispers as he leans in for a kiss, "Miserable."
