Just a Dream

deep shades of sapphire and melted lilac pour through my open mind

drowning me

within pools of mystery

and I watch everything float into space beyond me

lamplight

maps with no destination

and mother’s favorite dress

her perfume still clung to its soft fibers

and I realize

with a somewhat distant recollection

that none of it was really true

none but caught between the frays of reality and fantasy

just a dream

just a dream
