"Song Younyi." I tell the lady sitting in the main office's front desk.

"Ah, yes, your room number is at the top of your schedule, and here is a map of the school for you." She hands me a couple of papers as she smiles kindly at me. "Have a nice day, Miss Song."

"Thank you." I politely bow to her and leave the office. I start to head to my homeroom, only getting confused by the map once. I stop a little ways away from the door, just now getting nervous about starting at a new school. First Impressions are everything in the high school world and I really don't want to mess this up.

I might be a new Kpop idol, I might be used to singing and dancing in front of crowds by now but that doesn't mean I'm good in social situations like these. I just want a normal high school experience.

Taking a deep breath to calm my nerves, I open the door and step in. Almost immediately, the eyes of my fellow students swivel towards me. They look over me, judging, trying to figure out what kind of person I actually was.  I feel awkward, mainly because of the wig. The weight of it made me feel smaller then normal. Personally I think the wig makes me look weird. I wish more then ever right now that my ombrelocks could be free. Do you think they could tell it's a wig?

"Hello!" The way-too-enthusiastic-teacher snapped me out of my thoughts. "You must be Miss Song. It's a pleasure for you to join our class! Why don't you introduce yourself and saying what you like to do in your free time."

"H-Hi." Oh my god. I honestly can't understand why other teenagers, who are my age, make me so nervous. I even hangout with people way older then me, and they don't make me this nervous. Some of my unnies are in college and they don't make me this nervous. "I-I'm Song Younyi. In my free time I normally like to, erm, sing."

Some of the class murmur to each other as my teacher, Ms. Kim, starts to talk. "Thank you, Miss Song. Your seat will be in the back with Miss Seo Mina."

A girl two rows from the back, with an empty seat next to her, gives me a small wave. I give the teacher a  small bow before hurrying to my seat. I send the girl a small smile as I sit down.

The class takes out their workbooks as Ms. Kim starts her lecture.

"Hi, I'm Mina. Seo Mina" The girl next to me whispers politely.

"Song Younyi." I give her a wide smile.

"I was wondering if you wanted to eat lunch with me later? I can show you around, if you'd like?" She's clearly a little nervous.

"I'd love too!"

Maybe making friends isn't going to be so hard after all.

------------------------

I had to get redirected once on the way to the roof. When I finally make it up the, what seems to be a never ending set of stairs, there was a door that was being held open by a tattered, old textbook.

I push open the cool metal door, and a breath is caught in my mouth.

This is not what I was expecting.

The school looked over the city by being perched atop a hill. A hill that is barely noticeable from the actual ground. The breeze that ruffled my hair, the sun that warmed my face, calmed me. I already knew this was where I was going to come if things get hard.

"Not what you were expecting up here?" I jump. Mina laughs lightly at my reaction. "The view is pretty, that's why I sped my lunches up here."

I nod. "Do your friends join you?"

"I'm not going to lie, but I don't have many friends. Not after last year."

"Last year?"

She waves a dismissive hand. "That's a story for another time. Hungry? We should hurry if I'm going to show you around."

With that, I follow her to a bench. We sit and chatter about life as we get to know each other. Mina's parents are divorced and she lives with her father mainly because her mom has many sketchy boyfriends over often. She has a brother, who's in college, named Jihun. I tell her my parents are business owners who travel often, which is true. The only thing I'm not telling her is my true identity of Euma. Euma is my stage name. It's based on the Korean word for music, but it slightly made up because of the original pronunciation is eumag. Sorry, I'm rambling again.

"So, you like to sing?" Mina questions.

"Yeah!" I smile widely. "Music has always been my thing since I was about nine."

"Nice! I'm a band geek, I play flute." Mina say proudly.

I giggle at her excitement. "We're going to make a good pair, Mina-ah."

"Agreed, Younyi-ah. Would you like your tour now? We have enough time before class." She checks the time on her phone.

"Let's get going then." I stand, brushing myself off.

We walk close together down the never ending stair case, still chatting about random things that come to mind.

Well, I made a friend today! I think happily to myself, watching Mina talk about how her dog keeps running into their back door. But there's always a high school buzz-kill, so where are they?
