I gently place the box with the note under it in my wooden file cabinet and pull out the case file. I flip the over stuffed folder open and skim the case statement. Nothing changed, we find a body with a note and the evidence whipped clean. I've asked the proxies and uncles if it's them but all deny it leaving that checked out. Whoever this person is knows how to cover their tracks and how to avoid my eyes and senses.

I sit down in my chair and wake up my computer. I find the file with the multiple saved documents about the cases and open the latest. I'm greeted by a picture of a woman's chest opened by five claw marks that start at one shoulder and ends at her lowest rib on the opposite side. Her heart and left lung was missing, clearly ripped from their place and not cut away. Her head is crushed, my partner said it looked like her head was crushed by weight and not the strength of a jaw. One of her eyes hang from the socket. I scroll down and see her organs are spilling from her belly.

I hear a knock on my door so I minimize the opened file and go to open the door, changing back into my human form. It's Seth, my partner. He's a tall man with clean cut hair and beard. It's longer on the top and always slicked back. His face is strong and handsome but his ego quickly dismisses his looks.

"Hey beautiful~." He purrs as he holds out a Lilly.

I smile kindly and take it gently, I move aside and he walks in with a big grin. He sit down in the chair my uncle sat in and I walk to my desk.

"Hello Seth." I say as I hold up the trash can next to my desk and throw the flower away, still with a kind smile.

He stops smiling and sighs.

"Alright, it was worth a try. Just let-"

I cut him off.

"Us get to work? I think that's a great idea." I say in a warning tone.

He's been trying to take me on a date since the police department assigned us to work together, despite me telling him I have a husband and child. I just want to hurry up and finish this before he tries something more physical.

I open the file and turn the screen so we both can see it. Instantly he looks away in disgust.

"Gross! You were just in here looking at them?" He asks looking at me.

I nod.

"It's our job to look at these kinds of things, no matter how gross." I say calmly as I scroll down to the typing about what was found.

I read the report out loud and Seth sits listening.

"Ann Hawking was found off 4th street in a ally by William Jones at 1:34 in the morning. Her head had clearly been crushed by a undecided force. The victims chest had been opened with five claw marks in one sweep. Heart and lung missing blah blah blah." I say growing tired from this already.

"A bear?" Seth asks.

I shake my head.

"They don't live around here. It's extremely rare for a bear to be here because the forest doesn't have much of its pray." I say looking back at the pictures.

"Ok a wolf, we have those." Seth says.

"No wolf is strong enough to open a human chest with one sweep of its paw. Exceptionally a woman of her bust." I say annoyingly.

Seth groans and lays his head back.

"Just say it was a bear! Get this thing over with and move on from it." He complains in a whining voice.

"Did you just tell me to half ass my job? To tell the people a clearly false cause of death to tarnish my name not only as a detective but as a CITIZEN of this town?!" I yell.

Seth sinks into his chair and looks scared as I stand up, leaning forward with my hands flat on my desk. I glare at him and feel my face grow hot.

"I'm just saying it's been months no matter how many bodies turn up we have no leads every time ." He says in a tiny voice.

"GET OUT OF MY OFFICE!!" My voice booming through out the room.

Seth jumps up and runs out of my office. I sit down and put my forehead in my hand, closing my eyes. That man gives me a headache by only being in the same room but when he says things like that I feel my back tingle and my hands grow hot, ready to pounce on him and rip his throat out.

Marcy come in slowly and clears her throat, I look at her with half lidded eyes.

"I see it went well." She says with a chuckle.

I smirk and snicker with her. She looks at the screen and looks away quickly.

"I don't know how you can look at that stuff." She says.

I look at the monitor and close the file, turning it back to its rightful place.

"Believe me Marcy, I've seen worse." I say smiling at her.

She smiles back and walks up to me.

"I know you probably have." She says gently placing her hand on my shoulder to give it a gentle squeeze.

~hours later~

I pull into the driveway and see the door swing open as I close my car door after getting out. Andy runs out waving his arms in the air.

"Mama's home!!" He yells happily.

I scoop him up and put him on my hip, kissing his cheek. He kisses me a little to hard as Jeff leans against the door frame. I walk with Andy in my arm to the doorway and kiss Jeff sweetly.

"How was it today?" He asks and takes Andy to put him down.

I enter the house and change, closing the door.

"Like normal but trendy gave me a gift." I say putting my purse on the table next to the door.

"That's nice, so you know the basement?" He asks.

I look at him and grow scared.

"Ben told me to put a spirit board down there and... you won't believe what happened." He says breaking into a nervous sweat.

I glare at him as I walk to the door leading downwards. I walk down the first few steps and stop, unable to move to the next. I lean down and see the board on the floor. The triangle doesn't move and I start to stand slowly. I turn around and see Jeff and Andy there looking at me.

"This isn't funny Jeff." I say a little to harshly.

Then I see Andy run away and Jeff step down the stairs to me quickly. I feel something rub my leg then flop to the step. I turn around and see a white tentacle on the step as Jeff starts to pull me up into the kitchen. Before the door closes I see my father at the bottom of the stairs, slightly reaching out for me.
