How to Save a Life

EMILY'S POV

"Seriously?" I asked. The words came out sort of choked since I was forced to hold back my tears yet again. Alex was temporarily "unconscious" but they insist it's not a coma.

"She's just asleep," Joni told me. I saw Kalyn and Joni sneak glances at her like she was still hiding something from me. I didn't want to know what it was so I just insisted we go home.

"I'll take her." Cole said.

"Thanks," I said while walking out to his car. We were holding hands, our fingers intertwined. We walked in silence until Cole spoke.

"Emily, they said she's just temporarily unconscious, so you don't have to worry," Cole said while getting into the car. I nodded but still felt that I needed to worry. I mean, what if she really was Brandon's sister? And to think, I won't even get to figure it out because she's going to the hospital right now and she probably wouldn't talk to me after the whole incident.

We drove in silence and I never took my eyes off the window. After Cole dropped me off I said bye and went inside to find Dalton.

"Hey!" Dalton said after plopping himself down on the couch.

"Hey," I mumbled. Before he could reply I was already headed off to my room. I needed to be alone for once to think things through.

I just have to know if Alex was Brandon's sister. I need to know. What if she really was? What would Brandon think if he just saw her, just once? Would he actually believe me? I would be doing Brandon a huge favor. Think about it... Brandon having his sister return home? It would be outstanding and shocking all at once. Man I feel like I'm in the show Resurrection. But then on the other hand, what if Alex wasn't his sister then what would they both think of me? I like to get in peoples' personal lives? Would that ruin mine and Brandon's friendship? What would happen to Alex? Is she even going to be alright? I have so many questions right now it's not even funny.

That's when I got interrupted from my train of thoughts, I got a text from Joni.

Joni: Hey are you ok?

Me: Eh I'm trying to forget it never happened but that's impossible, it happened! :/

Joni: Well you wanna talk about it tomorrow? It's almost 11:30

Me: I guess. Night! ;)

Joni: Night

JONI'S POV

Today I was going over to Emily's house to talk things out about the whole incident. I don't know how to cheer her up but I'll try my best.

So I got out of bed and hopped in the shower. After I was all done I went to my closet to pick out a pair of clothes. I picked out a pair of white shorts and a neon green top crop. I changed into my clothes and blow dried my hair. Then I put on a bit of makeup and put my hair into a messy ponytail. To finish the outfit I put on a pair of white converse. I grabbed my phone and headed to Emily's house.

I knocked on the door and heard Emily say, "Coming!" in a raspy voice. She opened the door and let me in.

"Hey!" I said stepping in.

"Hi," she said while we both plopped down on the couch.

"So are you ok now?" I asked.

"I guess, I mean do you think that Alex really was Brandon's sister? She said the named sounded familiar, but then there's Brandon. He didn't believe that I may have found his sister when I called him. And if she was his sister I would never find out now! She's in the hospital, it's not like I know how to save a life!"

"I know Em, but you don't have to worry about it. The doctors can handle it and she'll be fine. They know how to save a life. I promise," I said trying to comfort her.

EMILY'S POV

How to save a life.... how to save a life. I have an idea flashing through my head. I may not know how to save a life, but I do know one thing. One thing that will help me. One thing that will help me find out if Alex is Brandon's sister. No more ifs. It's time to stop saying if all the time, and say is. She is Brandon's sister, and I know that for sure. I'm positive.

"I need to know how to save a life," I told Joni. She looked confused but I wouldn't blame her. I confused myself even.
