POV: ????
They laughed, they all just stood there and laughed. Laughed at the boy without a tongue, the boy who had done nothing wrong. The swine could never laugh if it was their own child, or themselves, or anyone of importance.  I wish I could hurt them all, that is all they had ever done to me. I wanted them to feel all the way I had when they laughed at me.
They laughed and then they left, leaving me to hang with my bleeding mouth and no way to get it to stop. The thick metallic taste on my throat was awful and I knew, I just knew I was going to bleed out and drown in my own blood before anyone bothered to check on me again. This is what they wanted after all, for the boy who spoke out against the unfair, unjust law, to die in a bloody mess of his prior self.
I kept my head bent, hoping I could get the blood to drain out instead of drown me. It was because of this that I didn't even notice the girl that came up to me. I don't remember what she looked like now, but I do remember how sweet she was. She carefully cut me down with a sharp rock and then helped me down from my painful spot. She walked me back into a house and laid me down on a bed.
I passed out after that, but when I woke, the girl was gone and so was my pain. The blood also didn't feel think in the back of my throat like it had. I slowly sat up, but still didn't see anyone around. I figured they had all left or been captured for helping me and I walked right out of the door into the cool crisp air of the night. Nothing seemed wrong for once and I ran right out of the town down the winding, dirt path that connected the towns.
As I walked the lone road, I thought about the ways I could get revenge. My body craved it and I wasn't someone who didn't listen to myself. Even when I had bad ideas, I always followed through on what I wanted. I only knew how to care for myself after all, there was no need to think of the consequences or how other people were affected. It never bothered me to watch people suffer through anything, I had to so they could.
It took almost three days to get to the next town, but I was amazed when I got there. It was buzzing with life and had rows upon rows of tall buildings that never existed in my old town. There were also many shopping streets lined with vendors ready to get rid of their good and turn a profit for the day. I was taken back by the liveliness and seeming friendliness of the town, it was a foreign concept to me. Something could seem happy and bright as opposed to dull and gloomy, and ditrustful.
I took my time wandering around and took in all of the bright sights around me, but it wasn't long before that was ruined. The galloping of official's horses filled my ears and stopped everyone in the vicinity. We all turned to look at the horses and the men atop said horses. They had a look of pure hatred for every man, woman, and child their gaze happened to cross. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a small man made his way forward and pointed straight at me.
He was the one who had me tortured the first time and I wasn't about to let him ruin me again. I couldn't get myself to move however, I just calmly looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"This is the man who escaped, I am sure of it," he hollered.
He couldn't even remember my name or what I looked like, figured. Officials, mayors, nobles, and royalty were all the same. They only wanted power and people to bow down to like they were some pet dog, if the people didn't comply, they made sure they wouldn't do anything ever again. It made the fury inside me rise to unbearable heights.
One of the officials jumped off his horse and walked to me, "Are you the man who escaped after having his tongue cut off?" he asked me calmly.
I gave him the most puzzled look I could muster and shook my head, but this seemed to only agitate the man.
"See, he didn't speak. Open his mouth and take a look. It must be him! I will not rest until he has died a fiery death!" he screamed as he jumped around like a moron.
This is when another man from somewhere in the crowd came forward, I had never seen him before, but he acted as if he had seen and known me all my life.
"I must apologize for this mix up, but this child is with me. He is my brother's son and was born mute. I was entrusted to care for him after my brother and his wife passed," he said wrapping his arm around my shoulders.
I looked back to the official and nodded in agreement. The officials seemed convinced and dragged the man who destroyed my life away. He was screaming how it was too coincidental that this man had a mute nephew, but on one paid him any mind and went back to their business.
The man who saved me let go of my shoulders and asked me a rather odd question, "Don't you hate people with power? I know I do. For saving you, I ask for your help in a rather... unique task I have been assigned."
I slowly nodded, acknowledging what he said to me and he continued, "I was assigned the task of kidnapping the queen. Help me out and you can get your revenge against those who have wronged you."
I agreed without a second thought and we walked right out of that town and right on our way to the queen's castle. As we made our way there, I started to question if this was a good idea or not. I kept pushing it off, saying it didn't matter to me though. I had made up my mind, and once I am committed, I don't ever stop. No matter the consequences.

Hi all! I am apart of the Muggle Wellness Group (Book club) and thought this would be an interesting challenge to try and write and community story. I had a lot of fun thinking of what I wanted to do with the characters and how I wanted to write this chapter. I hope you enjoyed it and that you think about writing a chapter yourself. It would be nice to see this keep evolving. Thank you!
