Every morning at around 4:00 am, I go for a jog through the city. It's normally dark out and raining at around that time, as it normally is in this dreary city, so I know no one would disturb me.

A nice capitals hockey team sweatshirt, black shorts, my regular running black shoes, and my iPhone with earbuds is all I need. I play my, or what my friends called, "angsty" playlist that consists mainly of Panic! At the Disco, Set it Off, Fall Out Boy,  the Kpop band BTS, a couple of others that I just like to listen to, and some anime songs. I know, I'm a weeaboo.

It was raining this morning, so I put my hood up and started jogging down my usual route. It was Tuesday, and just my luck, the song "Heat of the Moment" started playing. Call me a fanboy (which I am) but to me, that in itself seems like a bad omen. As long I don't pass any tourist traps, I should be good.

Anyway, the route I normally take every morning is nice and quiet. So I knew I should have listened to my gut feeling before I started my jog.

Rough and callous hands grabbed a blond haired boy from the streets and instantly pushed him to the ground of an alleyway. The boy was about to get up, but another set of hands pushed him down. His red Capitals sweatshirt getting muddy from the rainwater and dirt on the ground.

The boy looked up to his attackers, to see three people. A tall one with buzz-cut brown hair, some sort of worn-out football jacket, and grey sweatpants, with converse. The next one had shaggy black hair, he looked really pale, almost sickly even, in the light. He had a long jacket on, jeans, and some sneakers. Nikes by the looks of it. The last was a brute, with a big build, and scowl on his face. A long sleeved t-shirt, sweatpants, and running boots, by the looks of it, were all that he was wearing. He seemed to have a hat too.

The Buzz-cut went first, "Well, well, well, if it ain't the runt. What's a freak like you doing around here? On our territory."

The boy sighed, "I was just on my way Callum, I didn't mean to 'cross your territory.'" Putting air quotes as he said the line.

That made Callum and his goonies growl, "Now listen here smartass, I didn't ask a freak like you to talk to me like that."

The brute punched to the boy in the jaw, the song still playing through the boy's earbuds.

It was the heat of the moment

Another punch, a kick in the ribs, the sound of Callum's laugh in the distant.

Telling me what my heart meant.

They took the phone, surprisingly still in tack, and tossed it on the other side of the alleyway. Though the earbuds were still connected to the phone, the boy could still hear the song being played.

The heat of the moment~

After a beat down to remember, the two goonies stopped and walked away with a satisfied smirk on their face, Cullen leading them away.

The boy just got up, grabbed his phone, put his earbuds in, and continued to listen to the song with his hood up. The rain was coming down harder, so there was no use to continue his jog. The rain was washing away the blood dripping down his nose and mouth.
