Maryam's Parents

Maryam's mother has been crying ever since the day her daughter didn't return home after her classes. She hasn't had anything to eat or drink for the past days.  Rumours were speading like wild fire in their area. It would have reached the neighbourhood countries by now. All their relatives had gathered at Maryam's house just to know what the truth is. Some are genuinely here to help . But most of them just need the news. They are here to see who gives  the juicy news first.

" I heard that Maryam eloped with a boy in her class. " one of the relatives said.

"Are you sure ? As far as I know some rich guy had kidnapped her . Who knows what this child has been upto " another said .

"Really ? We can't trust children now a days. That's why I never let my daughter or son go alone. I always take them to classes. We need to keep a close eye on them. If not this is what will happen. " another was giving free advice.

Maryam's mother Minnah heard all this . She couldn't bare the pain these so called relatives are causing. "Are they here ro help or gossip " she thought to herself. She took slow steps towards the gossiping women and starred at each of them. They immediately stopped and looked at Minnah  feeling guilty.

"Look here everyone . If you'll are staying here please stop talking ill of Maryam. I know who my daughter is. I really do not accept all these false accusations about her. " Minnah said in her stern voice making the ladies look at each other with a evil smirk on their faces .

" Oh really ? There's nothing wrong in believing in your child. But what's happened explains something else. It's ok Minnah. If she had eloped she would return after few days. " one of the relatives said in a sarcastic tone.

"That's it ! All of you out of here ! You Come here like you really care, but all of you only are here to gossip" shouted Maryam's younger brother Malik , who couldn't take any of this nonsense anymore. He is just an 18 year old. But he had to be bold enough and stand up for his sister. Maryam's father Mahroof was quiet , but the anger in his face was making everyone shiver. No one knows what he is thinking about. He didn't speak a word in support of his daughter nor against her.

All their so called relatives started walking out of the door mumbling about the way Malik spoke to them. "Doesn't this explain  the way they have brought up their children . Hmmm . Utter failure " they concluded.  These relatives are causing more pain than relief.

Malik closed the door as all of them left. "Who the hell do they think they are ? "He mumbled to himself and started walking away from the door. He heard the door bell ring after a while. He walked towards the door "who is it this time ? Swear to god mama if it was any of those relatives of yours,  I would punch them right on the face ." He said fuming and opened the door. He couldn't believe his eyes as he saw  the person in front of him .

"MARYAM !" He said making Minnah come running towards the door.

"Maryam ! ....  Maryam " Minnah touched every part of her body just to make sure that what she was seeing is real. And it was. Her eyes started to tear.

"Where were you my darling? What happened to you ? We were so worried. ..." words refused to come out of her mouth.

"Mama !" She hugged her mother as tight as possible. She missed the warmth of her mom .

"Malik " she hugged him too. He hugged her back with tears filled in his eyes. "What happened to you Maryam ?"

She held his hands and said " I'll explain to you " she said and her gaze landed on her father who was still seated on the chair not moving an inch. But he wasn't looking very happy to see her.
