*Madison*

"I'm ready."

I walked into the hallway and saw Alex standing there.

He's so cute.

No Maddie. You can't do this. You're living with him. You can't date your roommate.

"So. What movie do you want to watch?" He asked me. So polite.

"You know, I'm not really in the mood to watch a movie. Can we just go to the beach or something instead?"

"Do you have a swimsuit?"

"Yeah, Liza bought me one." I said.

"Well then," He grabbed my hand. "let's go."

As we were walking down to the beach, he asked me a question I knew was coming yet I still didn't expect it.

"Why were you out on the streets?" Alex asked, pushing his hand through his hair.

I stopped. Stopped walking. Stopped staring up at him. Stopped holding back the tears.

I felt tears drip down my cheeks. I can't tell him. I just met him. I can't tell him yet.

"Maddie?" He walked over to me. "Are you okay?"

"No."

He wrapped his arms around me, practically squishing me with his muscles.

But I like it. I feel safe.

"It is going to be okay. You don't have to tell me."

When he released his grip, he grabbed my shoulders and looked at me. Time felt frozen when I looked into his eyes.

We stood there for a minute before a magnetic force joined us. It pulled me close to him, to his lips.

I kissed him. "I'm so sorry." I pulled away, wiping the tears from my eyes.

"Don't be sorry." He pulled me back to him.

Putting his hands on my face, he kissed me.

It was amazing. Magical. Romantic. All around perfect.

"Come on." He grabbed my hand and pulled me down the street. "We're not going to the beach."

"Where are we going then?" I asked, curious for an answer.

He wouldn't tell me. He continued pulling me along with him to an unknown destination.

When we made it to the destination, I was amazed. It was beautiful.

"What do you think?" He asked me.

"It's awesome, but who's place is this?"

"It's David's. He gave me a key and he's out all night filming a video with some of the other guys. I thought we could talk or just hang out privately."

I felt myself start smiling. "I would love that."

We sat there talking about childhood and music and things we like for about two hours. He went to the bathroom and I was sitting there alone.

I think it's time. I should tell him.

"Hey. I'm back." He threw himself onto the couch.

"I want to talk to you about something, Alex."

"Okay, go for it." He stared at me with his adorable eyes.

"I was out on the streets because..."

"No. You don't have to tell me anything." Alex stopped me.

"I know I don't have to. But I want to."

He took my hand. "If you want to then okay."

"I was out on the streets for three years. My parents kicked me out when I was sixteen."

He cut me off again. "What? Why?!"

"Let me finish. I had a boyfriend at the time and I thought he was going to break up with me, so I slept with him. He still broke up with me and I ended up pregnant. Before I knew it, he moved out of the state and my parents kicked me out. None of my family wanted to take in a pregnant single teenager so they let me stay on the streets. When I had the baby, he got put in foster care and he is still there."

He looked at me surprised. "Can you get him back? I mean, do you want him back?"

"I can, but they have to see that I am doing good and I can be responsible for him. And I do want him back. You'll probably think I'm insane for wanting to raise a toddler when I'm only 19, but I want my son."

"I don't think you're crazy. In fact, I admire it. You're being a good mom." He paused. "How about I help you get him back?"

"Alex. You don't have to." I gripped his hand even harder. "It's my problem, not yours."

"Maddie. I want to help you."

I kissed him. I don't know what got into me. I just kissed him.

"Can we go now?"

"Go where?" He asked me.

"They gave me the address for the foster home he is in. They let me stop by whenever."

"Let's go." He kissed me again.

Two in a row. Must be a good kiss.

We pulled up to the house and I saw my son and his foster parents sitting on the porch in a swinging bench.

As I got out of the car, they all looked up at me and smiled. He looked so happy to see me. He ran up, giving me a hug and Alex came up behind me.

"Mommy!" He yelled.

I missed his voice so much. "Jax!"
