Expecting rumors, Sasuna had arranged to miss Friday school, however Itachi wasn't having any of that. "Sasuna, get up!" He hollering from the kitchen. Getting no reply, he stomped upstairs, knocking politely upon her door, no matter how much he just wanted to barge in. "Sasuna, it's time to go to school." There was more silence. "Sasuna I swear-"
"Jeez, Itachi!" A shrill cry came from the other side. Taking a few steps back, Itachi nearly got slapped by the swinging door. "Do you have anything better to do than bother me?" However, the girl quickly regretted spitting that, remembering how Itachi really didn't have anything better to do. He didn't have a job anymore.
"Ugh, just come down." He grumbled, holding his head. "Breakfast is already getting cold." Sasuna watched silently as her brother descended the steps. She didn't like him like this. Itachi was moody and stubborn. He was also quite forgetful when stressed, which isn't a good thing.
"Coming!" The girl called, finally gaining her voice. Dashing back into her room, she performed a speedy change, before rushing back out. Sliding into her seat, she began to stuff her face with food. However she slowed, noticing that Itachi wasn't sitting at the table. "I-Itachi?" She called.
This was unusual. He normally ate with her. Looking towards the kitchen sink, she searched the countertop and drying rack for any dishes, but there was nothing. He didn't eat? she thought, shrugging it off and finishing her meal. She didn't want to bother her brother.
"Did you call?" The girl's tall sibling kissed the top of her head before ruffling her hair. "Anyways, it's almost time to go. All set?" Sasuna nodded. "Good, let's go then." Standing, the girl followed her brother into the garage, snatching her bag from the couch before hopping into the clunky mini van.
The drive to school was silent, which wasn't new, but it was a weird kind of silence. It was uncomfortable. Sasuna hated it. "Itachi, did you eat breakfast?" She asked, trying to break the awkward silence, only to realize that made the situation much more awkward.
Clearing his throat, Itachi ran a hand through his hair, letting his hair flop uncontrollably over his left eye. "Yes." He stated blandly. Sasuna squinted at him, anger building up inside.
"Really?" She asked. Her brother gave her a curious glance. "Because I didn't see any dirty plates in the sink." Her tone had changed from flippant to annoyed. Her gaze was anything but pleasant.
"Then why did you ask!" Itachi fumed, snapping at her. "Don't you have anything better to do than bother me!?"
Sasuna had regretted saying those same words this morning, but she could tell Itachi wasn't. "Pull over." She ordered. Itachi didn't budge from the main road. "I said, pull OVER!" The girl lunged at her brother, taking hold of the steering wheel, trying to gain control. Her brother cussed as car swerved and horns blared in the background.
"What the hell!" He screamed, his hand reeling back as if to slap her, but he realized that wouldn't be right and just used his strong arm to gently shove her away. "I'm pulling over, just don't kill us!"
Sasuna slunk into her seat, tugging her hoodie tight over her head. She mumbled something under her breath as Itachi stopped at the curb.
"What did you say?" He asked, gripping his siblings arm tightly as she struggled with her bag.
"I said I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!" She shrieked, jumping from the vehicle. "And don't pick me up today! I'm getting a ride from a friend!"
Before Itachi could retort, the girl was speeding down the sidewalk at a remarkable speed. If her athletics teacher had been there to see her, he would have surely brought her poor physical education grade up to at least an A-.
Itachi slumped forward, ignoring the sound his car made as he slammed his face repeatedly into the steering wheel. Why did he have to go screw things up? Why was he so stupid? He felt like finding a hole and dying in it. But he couldn't cuz he had to think of a good way to apologize to his sibling and get a new job.
Meanwhile Sasuna sat at the bus stop, her eyes buried in her hoodie sleeves. She was going to be hecka late by the time the bus finally dropped her sorry butt off at school.
Hearing the rumble of a motor in the distance, she looked up expecting to see a bus, but was instead met with bright green eyes. Jumping at the sight, Sasuna let out a small squeal.
"S-Sakura! What are you doing?" She asked hesitantly, relaxing slightly realizing it wasn't a complete stranger. "Don't you have school?"
The pink-haired girl took a seat, making herself comfortable beside her crush. "Yeah. But I saw you and was gonna ask if you wanted a ride." Her smile was so kind Sasuna decided one ride wouldn't hurt. Besides, she was convinced the day couldn't get any worse.
"I hope you're okay with riding on a motorcycle?" Sakura asked, a slight blush shading her pale cheeks. Sasuna thought the girl was kidding for a minute before she realized she wasn't. "I don't have an extra helmet, but I'll ride safe, promise?"
Sasuna gulped. To tell the truth, she had never been on a motorcycle before. "I'm fine!" She blurted a little too quickly, clearing her throat to cover up for the scared lump growing in it.
"Great!" Sakura didn't seem to notice the uneasiness in Sasuna's voice, for she got on the bike and patted the seat behind her. "Hold me tight so you won't fly off!"
That totally made Sasuna feel better, even if it Sakura was being sarcastic. She rolled her eyes and hopped on the bike anyways. As Sakura revved the engine, she felt as Sasuna's arms squeezed tighter around her waist. Sakura's blush grew heavier as the ride progressed and she felt Sasuna's racing heartbeat on her back.
This is real. She kept telling herself, because it was almost like a dream. Sasuna accepted something from her, Sasuna was hugging her, and what came next made it even better.
Sasuna shuffled slightly as Sakura parked. The two jumped off, Sasuna a little quicker than Sakura. She gulped, tapping Sakura's shoulder to get her attention. "Can I stay at your place tonight?"
Sakura felt a small trickle of blood drip from her nose as she stared at Sasuna's face, which was surrounded by wind-whipped hair. "S-sure..." She managed to mumbled before turning away quickly to hide her nose. "U-uh I'll be right back!" And as soon as she had appeared, she was gone, leaving Sasuna alone to make sense of this screwed up situation.
