THE PLOT IS FOILED.
Quick lock them in, shouted the voice holding Pete's arm. It was Kris.
He let go the arm, Pete turned the key and the door locked. On the other side of the door was Stella Stevens and Joey's monster.
"Where is everyone?" he asked Kris.
“They are waiting outside behind the wall.We saw your bike lying in a bush just inside the big gates, as we passed by the Hall. The door was open , so I went in, as the others waited incase I never came back out!â€
"Let us out of here" boomed the a voice from Pete's prison, or else you're in deep trouble", as fists started banging on the inside of the door.
"What have you done with Mrs Willsford?", shouted back Kris over the noise of banging, "where is she?"
"Let us out of here and we will tell you where she is", screamed the woman.
"No way" replied Kris, "come on Pete lets go and search the house"
Pete put back on his trainers, and they climbed the stairs out of the basement into the kitchen, leaving the noise of shouting and thumping behind them. Kris went down the hall to the front door and waved the others to join him.
"Is Pete here, is he okay?" quizzed Jenny.
"He's fine and the monster and his girlfriend are locked in the basement, no sign of Mrs Willsford though", he replied as they all entered the kitchen. Jenny gave Pete a big sisterly hug and asked if he was okay. He nodded.
They began searching the house hoping Mrs Willsford was still there.
"Mrs Willsford, Mrs Willsford are you here", shouted Joey forgeting that she was tone deaf.
Suddenly they heard a faint knocking coming from above them. They raced upstairs to the bedrooms, and split up and started going through every room.
"I've found her, she's here!", shouted Malc as he entered the smallest bedroom in the house. Mrs Willsford was gagged and bound to a chair, tapping here feet on the wooden floor. Kris untied the scarf over her mouth, and Pete began untying the rope round the chair.
"They think the gold bars are hidden here at the Hall", she stammered as the scarf fell to the floor, I tried telling them the gold is not here, but they wouldn't listen, they have been all through the Hall searching"
Malc and Pete helped her onto the bed, just next to the chair that had held her prisoner.
"Joey and I will go to the Police station, the rest of you stay here and look after Mrs Willsford, I think a nice cup of tea will calm her down Jenny", said Kris.
Arriving at Aylesham Police station on their bikes they chained them to a bollard outside and went in. Standing at the front desk was a familiar face, it was 'PC Plod' from the other night.
"Well, well lads so them skates are not permanately attached to your feet" he chuckled, looking down at their trainers, what can I do for you?"
Kris started to explain the story. Before he had time to finish it, the policeman was already reaching for his helmet.
"This better not be some kind of joke, or you are in big trouble boys, come on let's go and sort this out".
The boys left their bikes chained up at the station (safest place to be, thought Joey), as they drove off to Hammond Hall.
The rest of SK8Five were waiting outside in the front garden with Mrs Willsford when the police car drew up at the front gate. The policeman strode towards Mrs Willsford.
"They're locked in the basement, they kidnapped me, they want the gold!", stuttered Mrs Willsford.
He put a comforting arm around her and radioed for a police van and extra officers to get here as fast as possible. Within ten minutes, they arrived switching off their deafining sirens. Kris handed over the key to the door in the basement to one of the five officers on the scene.
Within a few minutes the monster and Stella Stevens appeared at the front door handcuffed, and marched off to the waiting Police van.
We'll get you back for this ¦just wait and see", screeched the woman at SK8Five as she was bundled into the back of the van.
"Don't worry about her", said a policeman,"they will be in prison for a very very long time"..SK8Five didn't look worried.
....................................
A few days later, a letter arrived addressed to SK8Five at Kris's house. It explained that the gold had been found at the Hall buried under the old oak tree in the back garden and as a reward the Bank had decided to fund a new Skatepark in Aylesham to the value of a whopping £10,000! Kris immediately called the rest of his team and they all gathered in his house to read the letter.
Yippeee! , exclaimed Joey,"no more heaving that ramp around everywhere!"
Looks like it replied Kris, and you can forget about converting that golf trolley Malc.
"Three cheers for SK8Five", shouted Joey, as he threw the letter in the air, Aylesham Championships, bring it on!"
They all began to cheer and laugh.
The Aylesham Skating Championships were only six months away, and no doubt SK8Five would have a few more adventures between now and then.
