Draco woke up, gasping. He felt warm all over, he felt like he did when he had been in the fire. Draco shook his head, that had only been a dream. He looked out the window, seeing that the sun had just started to come up. He staggered to the bathroom, clutching the sink with both hands and looked up in the mirror. He had to cover his mouth in order not to make too much noise; his dorm mates were still sleeping. The first thing he noticed was his eyes, it was like the color of a pensieve, that's the closest he could guess to it, he had never seen such a color. He could have sworn his eyes were perfectly normal yesterday.

Also there were markings on his face, around his eyes, that looked like flames. It was odd, like he was wearing some kind of mascerade mask. Draco brought his hand up to his face, what was this? What was he? Draco stood up fully, he had to see Snape. Now. Maybe he would know what to do or what was happening with Draco. Draco hurriedly walked to Snapes office, banging on the door when he arrived there. A moment later the door opened to a very annoyed and ruffled Snape. "What do you want?" He snapped, before realizing it was Draco. "What are you--?" He got cut off by Draco pushing past him, into the room, and grabbing Snape by the arm, closing the door.

"What is this?" Draco said, barely noticing his voice was shaking. He was pointing at he marks that were on his face. Snape paled.

"We need to go see Dumbledore."  He said, grabbing Draco's shoulder and steering him out of the room.

"What? Why?"

"Because he will know how to explain to you better than me. He knows more about it than I do." Snape was walking at such a fast pace Draco had to jog in order to keep up. Snape snapped the password and the Gargoyle sprun back, letting them get through. They walked up the moving staircase then Snape, being the polite being he was, knocked once on the door and threw it open, not waiting for an answer or a responce. The first thing Draco saw when he walked in was Harry, who sitting right across from Dumbledore.

Harry turned around, his face turning sour when he saw Draco, especially when he saw that Snape was with him. Then Harry seemed to have seen the marks around Dracos eyes because his face went from sour to curious. "Dumbledore" Snape said and Dumbledore stood up, his twinkling blue eyes taking in the marks around Dracos eyes as well.

"Please, sit down." Dumbledore, with a flick of his wand, summoned two more chairs, one on the left of Harry and one on the right of him. Draco sat down on the right of Harry, taking in all the odd trinkets Dumbledore kept in his office, and Snape sat down on Harrys left, who, too Dracos delight, looked quite uncomfortable. "What seems to be the problem?" Before Snape could answer Draco did.

"The 'problem' is that I woke up to find these hideous marks on my face. Did you not see that? They stand out a mile. Think your eyes are going bad, old mam." Draco snapped, irritatedd.

"Draco" Snape hissed and Draco crossed his arms, staring at his feet; Harry snorted.

"Draco," said Dumbledore, "look up at me." Draco did as he was told and Dumbledore got up to inspect the marks around Dracos eyes, and took his chin in his hand, moving his face from one side to the other. Draco snapped his head away.

"I'm not an animal." Draco snapped.

"Of course, I apologize Malfoy I just had to make sure they were what I thought. Yes, how odd. I certainly didn't think..." Dumbledore trailed off and Draco became annoyed. "Yes, well. I will explain but it would also be better for you if you also read about it. I'm afraid I can't make you understand as easily as a book could sadly. I do know the basics though so, yes. Severus," Dumbledore suddenly turned to Snape, and Snape snapped his head up. "Can you get these books from the library for mister Malfoy, please?" He gave Snape a list; Draco had tried to see what had been written on it but, as soon as Snape had grabbed it, he had folded it and put it in his robe pocket.
