Almost Nothing

Chapter 2

I jolt awake. Where am I ?!?!?!? Last thing I knew I was falling off a cliff. Now, I'm in, well I don't know. It looks like a sort of room made out of a tree. I sit up, and realize I'm soaked. Probably from the lake at the bottom of the cliff. Wait, but how did I get here? I fell like I'm missing something. Polly!!!! What else did I have? My iPhone, a pack of gum, and a couple dollars. Almost nothing, I thought.

I hear voices from afar. It must be the people who saved me! Soon, a door creaks open and a boy probably around my age with dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and medium skin walks in.

"Hi, I'm Andrew, and welcome to the Titan clan." the boy said.

"I'm Meghan, where am I and how did I get here?"I asked.

"I say you fall from that cliff, so I went and saved you." Andrew replied.

"Ok, but where's my dog, and why are YOU here, and..."

"Shhhh, it's okay. I'll explain everything while I give you a tour." he said.

He extends a hand and I grab it and pull myself up. He leads me out of the room, and into the open. All around there seems to be small huts, much like the one I was just in. The small "town" is bustling with....children?!? All around there are kids, no younger than five and no older than fifteen.

"Uh, Meghan? Hello in there!" Andrew intrudes in my day dream.

"Oh, sorry!" I reply. "What is this place?" I ask in wonder.

" This is the Titan clan home base," he says," these are all houses, but over there is the meeting hall, the mess hall, the outhouses, and just beyond those trees over there is the watering hole." Andrew explains pointing to different places as he talks.

"Ok, but how did you all get here?" I asked stunned.

"Three years ago, the government decided to do a study on kids ages 5-15. They wanted to see if today's youth could survive on their own. So, they gathered a bunch of kids the proper ages and gave them only the necessities and left them on this isolated island. At first all the kids lived together, about 300 of them, but fights got to much to handle. So, they broke into different clans, The Titans, The Scrats, and The Circumference Sisters."

"Woah." was all I could say.

"Yeah." Andrew replied.

"Wait but how is the government studying you guys if they can't see you?" I asked.

" They have government officials surrounding the border, taking notes, but they can't interfere with the experiment at all."

"So, this is nice and all but, HOW DO I GET OUT!!??!!??" I exclaimed.

"You don't." Andrew replied simply.
