Almost Nothing

Chapter 3

"Ding-dong, Ding-dong!" I heard in the distance.

"Oh, there's the dinner bell, we should get going." Andrew says.

"Ok" I say, still mulling over the fact that I can't get off this island.

We walk silently to the mess hall Andrew showed me earlier. I'm glad for it, because I just fell off a cliff, and now I'm in an experiment! I think Andrew senses my uneasiness, and stays quiet.

When we reach the mess hall, I get stares from all the people in the room. At first, I thought they were staring at Andrew, because he's pretty hot. But, I soon realized that they're staring at me.

Andrew, noticing my self conciousness, whispers, " Don't mind them. We rarely get newcomers."

"It's ok." I whisper back. It really was, I understood, it's like that new kid at school. Everybody's trying to guess things about them.

As we arrive to the table with the food, my mouth waters. I realize I haven't eaten since this morning. Mmmmmmmm, hamburgers! I grab a plate pile it up with food, and follow Andrew up to a table, and sit down.

"Ok, so after dinner, I'll call a meeting, and we will decide if you can stay in the clan." Andrew tells me after we sit down.

I spit my water back into the cup. " Wait, what? What do you mean decide if I can stay in the clan?" I ask frantically.

"Woah, calm down. I'm sure they'll let you stay. I'm the clan leader, and I sure want you to." Andrew attempts to calm me.

"Thanks, but what if they don't?" I nervously ask.

" Don't even worry about that right now." he calms me.

I know I just met him, but I trust him, I really do. I mean he saved me, so that's normal, right?

We quickly finish dinner, and Andrew calls for everybody's attention.

"As you can, see we have a newcomer here in the Titan clan. Her name is Meghan. She fell from The Cliff Of Sorrow, and I saved her. A meeting will be held in one hour to decide if she can stay. Thank you everybody, you are dismissed."

Everyone quickly ran out the door once he finished.

"Here are some dry clothes, why don't you go get cleaned up, you'll want to be comfortable on your first night." Andrew stated.

"Ok, but where's my dog?" I ask, finally remembering Polly.

"Oh, they don't allow pets in the experiment, so she's on a boat back to land, and your parents are being contacted about the whole situation." he replies.

"Ok, and Andrew, thanks for everything. If it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't be alive right now." I say, before heading back to the hut I was in originally.

"No problem, see you in an hour!" he called back.

Once in the hut, I looked at the clothes Andrew gave me. Gray sweatpants, a hot pink t-shirt, and a pair of flip flops. As I change I think about Andrew. He's really cute, nice, trustworthy, basically everything I want in a guy. Wait, do I have a crush on Andrew? I think for a moment, and all the signs point to yes! But I can't deal with this right now! I just fell int a government experiment, literally!!

After I dress, I pull my hair out of its ratty pony tail, and do a side braid. I probably still look like crap, but just fell off a cliff, so cut me some slack.

I figure I still have about fifteen minutes before the meeting that will decide my fate. Gaaahhh! I'm so nervous! To calm my nerves, I start sing the song that always gives me strength, Don't Stop Belevin'.I get through the whole song, and I feel at ease.

Too soon, it's time for the meeting, and Andrew walks in.

"Ready?" Andrew asks.

I gulp. "Yeah, I guess so." I reply.
