As always, the training session started with a run. The two of us ran around the castle grounds at least twice, timing how long we took and by the second round, we had to at least reduce the time by an eighth. It was always fun to run in the mornings... (Hey, that rhymed!)
All the wonderful, peaceful, breath-taking mornings before this very morning.
Princess Adeline had arrived.
"That little wretched servant, if I could, I would pulverize her into tiny little, itty bitty pieces to make sure she listens." I sighed at the voice of her screechy, little voice.
"Don't be too disgusted by her," Robin whispered to me, "Just look at the state she's in at the moment. Beautiful."
We stopped running as I turned my head to my sister and started to giggle. Her gown was immeasurably beautiful, one of the finest in the land however, it looked sort of askew on her. I don't know whether it's the way she's trying to walk or the way she put it on but something was odd. Her shoes weren't put on properly and the way she tried to hold her dress up while walking was just hilarious.
As Adeline made her way towards us, Robin bowed before her and I stood there watching the maids around her fix up everything that was out of place. They all followed her as little minions at her royal highness’ disposal.
"You may stand, Robin" She said, straightening up her posture as Robin stood up. "Training this morning, you two? I thought I might find you here."
"And what brings you here this fine first morning?" I asked, knowing the answer already.
Adeline was close enough for me to see her cloudy, muted grey eyes and smell her pungent perfume. Her hair color is sooty black, contrasting with her eyes, making them stand out.
"Taking a morning stroll to see the pleasant views Wonderland has to offer. Also to see if you're flirting with your trainer again."
"Flir...." I was interrupted by Adeline’s skinny finger.
"Don't say you don't flirt with him. I read that journal of yours.” Adeline’s maid, the one from this morning, held out a leather covered book, my journal. My heart just stopped. How on earth did she get a hold of it?
“'…He’s everything that I dreamed of. Tall, handsome and just p.e.r.f.e.c.t.'" She recited every single word written in my journal.
My stomach began to churn and I just wanted to run away and cry. Out of the corner of my eye, I looked towards Robin. I could hear him snicker silently as his smile grew wider and wider. I couldn't take it anymore. I thought of a few options.
1. Run away like a fool.
2. Stand my ground and wait for her to finish.
3. Bash the living crap out of her.
4. Rip open that expensive dress. (I really have the urge for that.)
5. Cry.
6. Block Robin's ears.
7. ......
Seven options...I feel like doing all of them, but, I chose none of them.
Smiling sweetly, I blocked Adeline's mouth with one of my hands.
"Why don't you be a dear and shut that trap of yours so I can concentrate on training. That way, in a few years, when you’re still alive, I can assassinate you, making sure that lovely, little, head of yours is sliced cleanly off. Detached from that short, little stump of a neck. And! No one will know." I grinned as her eyes glared at me.
Soon enough she bit me, I could feel her canine teeth sinking into the soft skin of my hands and the blood spilling out slowly. I winced as I pulled my hand out.
"You bitch.” I said, looking at my stinging hand. “I hope you like the taste of my blood. Here, let me put some of that to mix in with all that lovely make up." I smothered my hand all over her face, the crimson red blood all over her plump, rosy cheeks.
Adeline screeched as loud as possible. Her irritating voice could be heard from miles around; my blood on her white teeth could be seen inside her mouth; the maids hurrying along, trying to wipe down her face, smudging the blood over her face even more. Robin blocked his ears and scrunched his face as he was closer to her than me.
I scanned the area and saw a bucket filled with rain water. I smirked, running over to the bucket of water and carried it back to her. Adeline had finally stopped screeching, believing that the maids had removed all of the blood on her face. I looked at her, shaking my head as I carried the bucket in front of me.
“Adeline,” I began, “Your maids certainly tried their best to take all that blood off your face, but it seems that all of it hasn’t been removed.”
“What…” Adeline’s face was red with rage and fury, she gritted her teeth.
“Don’t worry,” I said smiling, “I’m such a loving sister that I’ll take care of it!” As quickly as possible, I lifted the bucket of rain water over her head and poured it all over her. “Now you just have to brush your teeth!”
Adeline stood there shivering. The maids had no idea what to do so they moved back slowly, scared that they may face the princess’ wrath. I stood there smiling and Robin was covering his mouth trying not to laugh.
“By the way,” I said, “Where’s your ‘bestie’?”
“Right here.” I peered behind Adeline, seeing Marian, her closest maid or as the girl drenched in rain water says it, her best friend. Marian bowed to me, “Your highness.” Standing up before I could say anything else. She looked at all the maids around Adeline, glaring at them.
Marian wore a purple dress with long puffy sleeves; a lavender shawl was wrapped around her arms and her shoes were of the same kind as a maid’s.
Taking off her shawl and wrapping it around Adeline, she looked at the other maids “Please prepare a warm bath and some new clothes for her highness.”
Without another word, the maids hurried off as Marian turned around with her arms around the Princess’ shoulder, taking small steps to the castle. “Have a good morning, your highness.” She said to me.
I shrugged and turned my body towards Robin, “Well, that’s the end of that.” I said. “Lets get back to training.”
