- yerin was caught off-guard by his request, and regarded him with wide, disbelieving eyes. "what?? why??"
jeongguk held his hands up as if to claim innocence. "you don't have to if you don't want to! i just have my sketchbook with me and...forget i asked." he turned away, and yerin could see the hint of a blush graze his cheek.
"no, it's okay," she said softly. "i'd like that."
"ok!" he through his little backpack and pulled out a beat-up blue sketchbook. "you can just look at the painting with a neutral expression if you want."
"i've never modeled before," yerin told him nervously, but she looked out at the painting like he asked.
"you'd never know," he laughed, and then the only sound was his pencil on the page.
yerin kept her eyes trained on the little window, and before long jeongguk set down his pencil with a satisfied sigh.
"done."
"can i see?" she asked, and he turned his sketchbook around to show her. there she was, glossy hair around her shoulders, eyes looking wistfully into the distance.
it was so lovingly rendered that yerin felt beautiful for the first time in years.
"it's...i don't know what to say."
jeongguk turned it back to him with a look of scrutiny. "i couldn't get your lips right. i promise your lips are nicer than this." then he stood up. "can i give it to you?"
"sure," she replied. jeongguk tore it out of the book in one fluid movement, and presented it to her with a grin. "see you later," he said, and then he was gone.
yerin looked down at the drawing in her hands. he thinks my lips are nice.
