The gray mare floated up and above the town known as Ponyville. Derpy flew through moist, white puffy clouds every once in a while, but didn't really mind. Droplets of water trickled down her white-blonde mane, but they flew off gracefully as the mare took flight. The blue skies were pretty nice, as yesterday. She heard songs of birds, giving a hint that she had resulted flying above Fluttershy's home, and saw a bird of prey along with the pegasus. "Eagle, eh? If so, hi Fluttershy! Eagle," Derpy greeted. Fluttershy gave her a friendly smile, "Yup! Bald eagle, obviously. But I feel bad for them, when they aren't really bald. It kind of offends them." Derpy nodded in response, "Got that right, I hate being called 'brat' or 'idiot' or whatever..." The light yellow mare felt stricken for the poor gray pegasus. Fluttershy's pale pink mane fell in front of her right eye as she ducked her head to show her caring, "I'm so sorry..." Then another pegasus zipped along. Derpy rose her eyebrows at the newcomer, more curious than suspicious. Fluttershy smiled again, "Derpy, this is Storm. Storm, Derpy." Storm's wings flapped, nodding. Derpy nodded back, "See ya around. Look for bubbles to see me!" She darted past the two pegasi and into Ponyville. The bright colorful rejoiced with great laughter, making Derpy enjoy it.

She spotted Applebloom, not thinking of her friend's sister's death at all, "Hewrro Applebloom." Applebloom returned the favor with a smile as well, "Hey Derpy!" Derpy trotted away with her wings folded against her body. Her expression darkened as she saw Spike, "Hello, Spike..." she mumbled, holding back a growl. Spike's glance shifted to the side and he whistled, then hanging his head down, looking at his feet, "Have you seen Rarity anywhere? At all? Like, I'm getting pretty worried.. Haven't seen her since yesterday!" A stream of images flashed through Derpy's mind of the events last night, but shook her head, "Nope. Not at all, try looking at the shop though," she suggested with a lie, grinning. Before Spike could reply, Derpy galloped to a cheerful pony's place— Sugar Cube Corner. The word 'corner' rang in Derpy's head.

A bell rung as Derpy entered, Pinkie Pie turned, smiling with a cupcake balanced on her nose, "Want it?" Derpy shrugged, and Pinkie Pie skipped around, bouncing with more cupcakes on her head, "It's muffin flavored!" she sang. Derpy bit her lip, she loved muffins her whole life. She couldn't pass up the offer, no matter how full she was. She was interrupted from a daydream of 'Muffin Land' when Pinkie asked, "Wanna help me make some? It'll be fun! A little messy.. But where's the fun of being oh super duper crazy bad-o neat?!" she smiled with her teeth, and it shined in a twinkle. Derpy bit her tongue and quickly swallowed the bit she had gotten out to pay, "U-um. Oops, no thanks. Sorry. I'm kind of busy these days.." she slowly backed away and nearly fell like the klutz she was when a back hoof nearly slipped off a stair step. Pinkie Pie frowned, "Guess I have no friends..." she whispered helplessly, her blue eyes widened. Derpy sighed, the voice was too convincing to refuse, "Fine."

Derpy was more pleased than she thought she'd be— she thought they would only make a random series of cupcakes, but instead they made dozens of muffin-flavored cupcakes. After that, Derpy and Pinkie said their goodbyes, with a very happy Pinkie as the last glance Derpy saw. Apparently Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie's best friend (very sadly), had bumped into Derpy because she was too lazy to look and care. "Watch it!" Rainbow Dash hissed, ruffling herself like a dog soaked in water. She dashed away slowly, so not so much dash at the moment, "W-why do you hate me, Rainbow..?" the voice rose from behind her. Derpy had trotted after the sky-blue mare. Rainbow Dash growled, "I'm not Apple Jack, the element of honesty. I'm loyalty!! I'm totally /not/ gonna be loyal to some klutzy mouse-brain! Or even beetle-brain.." Derpy's eyes ticked around, then flattened her ears with her golden eyes following down with them. A mouse— Fluttershy's, Derpy figured— squeaked in anger and crawled up with tiny little claws clinging on, and it bit her with its tiny teeth. Rainbow Dash bucked it off and it squeaked, landing on its back then turning and scattering away. "Stupid mice..." she grumbled and zipped off with Tank. Derpy sat down on her bum, her tail swishing around, "For a friend of a alicorn princess, she's pretty mean...."
