Ace

Chapter 1

Tessa yelled over her shoulder to her big brother " I'll race ya home!"

" No way! You have the advantage of a bike, I'm on foot!"

" Advantage? Ha, you know these roads, they're so rocky that you're probably better off on foot!"

" Fine, you're on!" Tessa's brother, Josh, yelled back.

As soon as they got home (Tessa won the race by a nose!) they had to do homework 'till dinner. After an hour and a half of homework Tessa was ready to go adventuring. Tonight she decided to go check out the abandoned farm that was crushed by the great oak tree. She wanted to see what had happened and she wanted to climb on the tree. Tessa got on her bike and rode away. As soon as Tessa got to the tree she spotted a small brown and black mound. She went to go see what it was. She went over and touched the mound, it started shivering and a small head lifted. Tessa froze. She gently picked up the dog and placed him in her bag and rode home.

When Tessa got home she filled a large, old bucket with warm, soapy water and put the puppy in. Tessa scrubbed for about ten until all the dirt finally scrubbed off the puppy's fur. She stopped and looked into the puppy's big, brown eyes and said, " We're going to have to find a name for you. What about... Rover? No, that's used too much! Maybe... Max? No, too plain! I know, how about Ace! It's perfect, I'll call you Ace." Ace barked twice to show his approval.

Tessa gently put Ace into an old chicken coop and decided that if she wanted to keep him she would have to convince her mom. That means lots of grooming and ribbons! Tessa climbed onto her bike and headed off to the craft store. When she got there she looked in the ribbon section for an hour until she found the PERFECT roll if ribbon. It was purple (her moms favourite colour!) with white polka dots. Next she stopped at a pet store and bought a beautiful red and blue striped collar and a dog brush. After a half hour of work the next day Ace was ready and Tessa knew it!
