**Recap**
“Levi is the name of my wolf.”
“Show me.”
“What?” He just looked at me and seemed a little confused for a second until realization dawned on him as to what exactly I meant. He seemed to hesitate for a moment.
“Are you sure Anne? I don’t want to scare you. I can’t always control Levi and I don’t want to hurt you.” He says.
I nod my head and he turns to walk back into the line of trees. Sophie scrambles inside tripping on the slippery steps. When I turn back to face the forest I see Gabriel, who is now Levi I think, standing there waiting for something. I ignored the flips my stomach was doing and gave him a shy ‘thumbs up’. Levi walks forward and gets to me in 3 steps. He lies down in front of me showing that he is no threat. He just lay there, as silently as a cat ready to pounce, with his head on my lap. I cautiously stretched my hand out to touch the darkly sumptuous, exotic, and depraved wolf lying before me.
Just as I was about to make contact with his midnight fur, the cook walked out the back door. He gawked at the sight before him. Then slowly walked up to me and Levi stepped back for every step the cook took forward. When he reached me the cook grabbed my arm and dragged me inside then ran off to call someone.
Hours later Gabriel still hadn’t come back and the police are at my house. They just informed me that William’s death was in fact by a wolf. What confused the authorities was the prints around where William was found. They were much larger than normal wolf tracks they have come across before. I knew they were Levi’s tracks but when Gabriel told me about William’s death he did not look guilty. He looked surprised and was truly saddened by the news.
While I was lost in my own thoughts Gabriel walks through the front door with some bags, which I’m guessing contained groceries. It was a good cover as to why he was gone while the whole house was erupting in chaos.
He just came in and quietly put the groceries away. Although he still had his guard up, he acted as though nothing happened a couple hours ago. He acted as though I did not just see him change into that midnight black wolf. As though he was not condemned to live with a wolf as his other half!
As these thoughts were racing through my mind I only got more furious with him but also a burning desire to find out more about the whole situation with him being a suspect in William’s death. I could not do it here though so without a second thought I took Gabriel by the hand and dragged him up two flights of stairs to the upper level of the house because nobody but Sophie was ever up here.
I took him into the library and locked the door. Gabriel has not said a word or fought me the entire time that I dragged him up here.
After locking the door, I spun around with heaving breaths and eyes as dark as a lion ready to make the kill. When Gabriel saw my face he slowly backed up and barely sat down before I exploded.
“Gabriel Lightwood!” I all but shouted at him.
“Yes Ms. Grey?” he questioned still looking uneasy.
“Do not ‘Ms. Grey’ me Gabe! I am talking to you as a friend right now. So I am going to ask you something and I want you to be honest with me, okay?” I said still fuming but managing to get control of my emotions to have a conversation with him for a few minutes.
“Anne, look, I am truly sorry about William...” he started but I did not give him time to finish what he what saying before I slapped him across the face.
