Aliyah's POV
Ameera was really upset and Amal being all stone cold and everything left me to deal with her.
She looked like she was ready to burst into tears at any moment. Her eyes were always glistened with a layer of tears ready to cascade down her face.
She looked broken.
Ameera and her mum, Azizah, weren't the closest of people though. They had had quite a few arguments over how Ameera prioritised sports and didn't focus on academia.
But, Azizah was still her mum, and in Islam we are taught to value and cherish our parents. Heaven lies under the feet of your mother.
You don't know what you have until it's gone.

Ameera was scheduled to fly to Pakistan in two days, along with Shazia.
She and her sister needed to be there for their mum's funeral. Azizah was going to get buried in their hometown in Lahour, Pakistan.
But, in the meantime, it was up to me to make her feel better. I needed to be extra nice to her and just tell everyone else to be too.
I was letting Ameera stay over my house until she went and I think Shazia was staying at one of her friends houses. I needed the company anyway.
It was the Friday afternoon and we had one lesson left: French. I absolutely hated it. And my parents didn't really care about languages either so, why try? But, being me, I was naturally good at it anyway.
Ameera and I planned to go shopping after school since she needed to get gifts for her relatives in Pakistan.
Three minutes till the bell. I didn't wait for it to start packing up.
And there was the sound I loved so much, the bell.
Ameera and I walked out towards my car and Amal was heading home with her butler.
I drove to the mall, shopping therapy never fails. We raced out of the car and went to the first floor to get some cash.
*****
We hauled the bags of shopping behind us and into my house.
Ameera and I decided we'd put on Mean Girls and pack her suitcase at the same time. She had bought so much but so had I.
She was allowed 55kg in Emirates First Class so we wouldn't need to worry.
After we finished packing, my phone started ringing.

Oh my Allah! Not now! I just needed to wait one more day until Ameera left and then I would get involved.
She couldn't know, not yet.
*****
When the time came, Ameera and her sister were driven to Heathrow Airport by their butler.
I was sad to see her go but really relieved.
I could finally take care of what they were bugging me to do.
