The large metal hand plunged from the sea unto the golden sands of the beach, the tides pulled back revealing a large metal man barely moving. One of the hands of this metal man twitched when the tide was dragged back to shore, this man of metal was alive. The man pushed himself up from the sands and stood, he looked around in a daze wondering where he was. He could see the small houses, large plains of grassland and birds harmlessly pecking seeds from the ground. He sluggishly made his way towards the houses the diving suit weighting him down resembling a ton of bricks and the water inside the suit created a numbing feeling that crawled from his legs slowly up his body. He moved his large hands to his helmet in attempt to remove it nonetheless he could not for something was Holding the helmet in its place. He couldn’t remove any of his suit not his gloves, suit nor helmet he was trapped within this metal suit as if it where a jail. He moved sluggishly towards the homes dragging his feet through the dirt and the grass, his heavy breathing echoing within the suit, his movements where sluggish and exaggerated, his gait resembling that of a monster or creature. He placed his large hand on the wooden door for balance the other repeatedly beating on the door, Knock…Knock…Knock, the booming sound echoed through the suburbs, scaring birds off of trees. He screamed but no voice came from his relentless cries, he continued knocking on the door but to no avail, he dragged himself to the home next door and repeated this process of knocking and screaming but no one replied. He moved through the whole town screaming for someone to help him but no one came, there where no people through out the whole town and the only sounds where of the wind rustling the leaves of the trees, there where no sounds; not of children playing and laughing, nor the sounds of idle conversation of adults it was almost completely silent. He walked towards his home, where he lived with his family; his lovely wife and two small children but when he got there he was left with no feelings of happiness just remorse, sadness and emptiness. His home was empty, his wife and kids had left, and the door was left open as if to invite him to enter, almost as if the home was mocking him. The cold hallway echoed the sounds of his heavy footsteps throughout the whole house; he made his way down the hallway his footsteps now slow from the weight of dread. He took the walk up the staircase and into his children’s room where only nights ago he had been able to happily hold his children in a loving embrace and let their warmth and joy into his body. He couldn’t bear the sadness so he dragged himself back down to the dining area and threw himself into a chair but that only made him feel worse as the memories of all the happy meals he was able to have with his family. The sun started to set as the cold creped in through the shadows of the night, tiredness and exhaustion fell upon him as his limp body laid upon a chair in the dining room.
His dreams where filled with images of flames and the hot burning sensation taking over his entire body, he could feel as his skin bubbled and melted away from the intense heat of the hellish flames.
He awoke with a startle as the bright orange lights from the rising sun filtered into the room through the silky partially see through curtains that covered the windows. Images of the flames and the feelings of pain lingered throughout his body. He felt sluggish and heavy forgetting about the metal cage that he was trapped I, he arose in a start remembering the events of the previous day and threw himself up the stairs and around the house, calling out for his children and wife but once again there was no sound and his family where nowhere to be found.
The memories of the day before flooded into his mind, reality sunk into him, he was alone. He could feel a tear roll down his cheek as he wondered endlessly through the city. No matter where he dragged himself, no matter how far or wide he searched he never found a single person. Years went by like this, he always wondered through empty streets and empty towns never able to locate a single person.
He was alone. Forever Alone
