"Mary Titus?" He pulled his hand away and looked between me and Andrea. "Andrea Crescent? You're supposed to be dead," he pointed at Andrea then pointed at me, "and you're supposed to be missing."
Andrea narrowed her eyes and sat down on another bed in the clinic. "The door is locked and we're on the second floor. We shouldn't be seen. Make it quick though."
I moved aside despite the pain to let Dimitri sit down. The man hadn't torn his eyes from my face for a good 5 minutes as we just sat in silence.
"Three years and you've grown up so much... I missed three years of your life." He let his gaze drop from my face to my hand, his hand hesitating to take it.
I pulled my knees to my chest with a wince and rested my head on top of them. "You left when I needed you-"
"I left because I didn't want to loose you and have to watch while I was powerless to do anything!" He stepped away and ran his fingers through his hair.
Andrea stood and put her hand out to stop Dimitri. She was met with a growl but he stood still. "My previous threat still stands, kid. Now that you know I'm a century your elder maybe you'll appreciate it even more."
He turned to me then back to Andrea. "Can't you wait outside or something? I haven't seen this girl in 3 years plus she is my mate, at least give me that."
She shook her head and sat back down on a bed.
He rolled his eyes and sat back down next to me, his hand taking mine but I pulled it away.
"Don't you have a wife and kid to get back to? Let's not forget about the new beta position on the other side of the country."
He clenched his jaw and tilted his head back as he closed his eyes. "I haven't seen you in 3 years. Am I not allowed to at least talk to you?"
The door handle to the clinic shook just as Andrea stood and ran over, her hand grabbing mine as she muttered something and the door opened.
"Meredith, what are you doing here?" Dimitri took a quick step back as his brows furrowed and his gaze left me.
The blonde in the doorway let out a growl and stalked over to her husband, her hand grabbing his. "Your child is crying again and I've done everything. I've fed her, burped her, changed her diaper. She needs her daddy." At the last word her eyes moved to me, the faintness of a smirk on her face.
Dimitri cleared his throat and nodded as his eyes met mine. He went to say something but his wife dragged him from the room before he could.
"He knows, we need to leave." Andrea pushed me back to laying down and waved her hand over my chest, the pain almost immediately disappearing. "Scars look nice, make you look tough." She smiled and helped me sit up.
"Andrea I'm not your daughter okay? I have parents who... love me, you don't need to coddle me to protect me." I dropped back onto the bed and draped my arms over my face, a sigh leaving my lips. "Do we have to leave though? We just got here." I felt her weight leave the bed just before my arms were pulled from my face.
"Jack has connections, if one person knows we're here then others will. I'm sorry Mary but we just can't risk it." She patted my arm and motioned to the door. "Come on, let's get packed up. I've already had the next place prepared."
I pulled myself off of the bed and followed behind her back to our room. Once inside I grabbed the duffle bag she held out to me and began packing it with the things we bought at the store. A few tears dropped onto the bed below me as I zipped the bag close and dropped it onto the floor next to the one Andrea had packed. "Okay, I'm ready." I looked over to where Andrea was sitting on her bed reading a rather old-looking book.
