|The next day...|

Anna laid on the soft, feathery pillows, her eyes focused on the red rose dangling between her fingertips. The morning light invaded her room through the half-open curtains just as Alexander's face invaded her every thought. Wondering how he'd look in the day with every feature exposed to the light, she imagined his eyes, like two sapphire jewles, held against the morning rays of the awakening sun. Lips, made for sin, soft and demanding against her skin-

She shook her head, her gaze trailed to his jacket, now neatly folded on one of the chairs in her chamber. She breathed a sign of exasperation as her eyelids closed again but there was no way she could escape the vivid image of her Mate.  Her eyes snapped open as she groaned in annoyance. She wanted to blame the bond, she really did. But even if he was just an ordinary man with no bond connecting their lives like an invisible rope, she knew the chances were very high, she'd still think of him. She wans't sure anymore of how much of this craving was just a side effect of the Mate bond, and how much, of herself.

Anna wanted to run her fingers through his well defined chest, over his heated skin and sink her palms into his hair, bringing his lips to hers. Admitting the truth to herslef-- she accepted it knowing all too well that denial was a one way ticket to failure. That did not mean, however, that she could not take contol.

As she laid there in what might look like a peaceful manner, her mind was anything but calm. She was restless to put her plan into motion.

Just then, a soft knock came from the doors and Ellen popped her head in through the crack, one eyebrow raised.

"Oh, wow! That's new, you're awake."  Annabelle laughed at her now new made friend, throwing a pillow towards the doors that Ellen swiftly caught in one hand. She sure had reflex.

Ellen giggled as she lied on the bed beside her, placing the pillow Anna threw at her underneath her head.

For the past few days the two of them grew much closer. Ellen really had came around and it seemed as if they had been friends for years now. Only few days prior, Anna filled the girl in on what Sofhie was intending to do durning the upcoming ball. The look on the poor girl's face was pure horror at the mention of Nicholas, but not long after, she burst into a fit of laughter. In a way, this was the icebreaker between the two. From that day on, their friendship only grew. They felt oddly comfortable around eachother.

"Today's the day." Muttered Ellen. "You better be rested, it's going to be a long night."

Anna groaned as she moved face down onto the pillow. "Don't remind me, please." She mumbled.

"Oh, come on. It's going to be magical." Ellen's gazed into the distance, her expression wishfull, "I mean, isnt't it beautiful? Women dress in their best gowns, men look dazzling in their well trailed suits. You dance in the moonlight with music soothing through the midnight air."
