"Disaster avoided," Hiccup told Astrid triumphantly.

"But how long until the next one?" Astrid asked. She was sure that this wasn't the first time Mel had either planned on or actually skipped out on school.

By next one, she meant one of Mel's schemes.

"I don't know," was all Hiccup said before Dagur walked in.

"Guys, there is trouble on the Edge."

"That was so boring. Why did your dad have to show up?" Helena said. Mel was studying the Book of Dragons in the Great Hall while Helena talked. It was their usual after school activity. Well, that or shopping.

"Mmhmm," Mel replied.

"I mean, why did my dad have to go to Chief?" Helena asked. "Couldn't he have trusted me? I mean, crop tops aren't even that bad!"

"Mmhmm."

"Are you even listening?" Helena asked.

"Mmhmm," Mel replied.

"What are you looking at?" Heather asked.

"Night Furies," Mel said. "I read up until this point yesterday."

"Why do you want to look at the Night Fury in the Book of Dragons? Your dad has more information than anyone. Heck, you can go ask Toothless yourself. I'm sure after having that dragon long enough, your dad is able to translate what Toothless said."

"I know, but, I'm trying to figure out what dragon I want. It'll be a lifetime of loyalty I'll have to commit. And I'm not about to go to my dad for information."

"Why not?" Helena asked. "I'm sure he'd enjoy the quality time."

"That's the thing. I'm afraid."

"Of what?"

"Getting too close. Dad told me how his dad died. How they finally got close, and shabam, Stoick died.  I don't want that to happen."

"You're afraid to love," Helena said empathetically. She really did feel bad for her friend.

"Hey Mel, have you seen your mom and dad?"

"No Aunt Heather, I haven't. Did you check the skies?" Mel asked. Her parents were usually on their dragons or something. Maybe checking out the new adjustments on the Dragon Fly 4.

"Yes. And all around Berk. I also can't find Dagur, or anyone for that matter. Its like they disappeared."

"Is it your birthday?" Mel asked.

"No," Heather answered.

"Hmm. Stables, or other islands?"

"Already had the A team check."

"Mom, do you think?" Helena asked.

"Think what?"

"I think they were all kidnapped."

"Hiccup? You there?" Astrid asked.

"Yeah, is anyone else here?" Hiccup called into the darkness. Murmurs came from all corners of the room.

"Astrid, can you try calling Stormfly? Everyone else call your dragons," Hiccup said. Soon, dragon calls filled the area, but no dragon came.

"Where are they?" Astrid asked.

"Why would I put them with you?" Greta asked. Hiccup scrambled to get up, but fell. Now how they got there came back to him.

"Alright team. Someone was defiantly here," Hiccup said.
