Fionna stared at her reflection in the mirror. "Are you sure about this Cake?" She said.
"Obviously." Her cat sister said, smoothing out the wrinkles on Fionna's dress. "You look like you fell from glob." Fionna looked down at her gown and tugged gently at the pearls around her neck.
Cake stretched her paw to snatch off Fionna's hat from behind her. "Hey!" Fionna twirled around in her blue dress to grab her hat back.
"Uh-uh sugar." Cake held the bunny hat just out of Fionna's reach. "Today is special, you can't hide those pretty locks tonight."
Fionna pouted, crossing her arms. She knew that she couldn't win an argument with Cake. "Fine." She huffed. Cake grinned and pushed Fionna's hair back with a bunny headband.
When she was done, Cake stepped back to admire her work. Fionna saw Cake's eyes widen. "OH MY GLOB."
"Do I really look that bad?" Fionna chewed on her lip. "Oh honey, you are going to get your first kiss today!" Cake gushed. Fionna blushed and wrung the folds of her dress. "Caaake."
Cake giggled and pushed Fionna to the edge of the stairs. "You better get going pumpkin, you don't want to be late to your birthday ball!" Cake called.
"Yeah, yeah." Fionna carefully stepped down the stairs, quietly cursing the heels Cake made her wear.
Fionna heard a knock on the door of the treehouse. "Coming!"
Lord Monochromicorn stood on the doormat, the rest of him disappearing behind him. A tie was tucked into his suit jacket on a small portion of his torso and he tapped his hoof on the ground multiple times.
"Uhhhhh..." Fionna stood there for a few seconds until she focused again. "CAKE!" She yelled. "LORD M IS HERE FOR YOU!"
Cake extended down the stairs and gave Lord M a quick peck on the cheek. "Hey baby. Ready to go?" Cake asked. Lord M replied with more stomps and they flew away, leaving Fionna on the porch.
She asked Marshall to fly her to the ball since she didn't want to watch Cake and Lord M do love junk.
He would be here any minute, so she hurried inside to find a purse and stuffed her retractable crystal sword into it.
Just in case.
"Hey." She heard a whisper by her ear. She jumped and drew her sword on instinct.
"Woah." The end of her blade was almost touching his pale throat and he had his hands raised by his face, surrendering. "Careful Fi."
She lowered her sword and put it back into her purse. "Ugh. Don't sneak up on me Marshall."
The vampire smirked and put his hands behind his shaggy hair. "Aww. Come on Fi, it's fun."
Fionna rolled her eyes. "Let's just go." Marshall shrugged and offered his back. Fionna latched on and he floated up into the sky.
"Wow Fi, you sure are heavy." Marshall snickered.
"Shut your face." Fionna slapped his bicep laughing.
Marshall had a black shirt on with a red tie wrapped loosely around his neck.
"Hey Marshy?" Fionna said eyeing his tie.
"Yeah?"
"You can't tie a tie, can you?"
"Uhhhh..... I guess not." He muttered and she saw the tips of his ears turn pink.
She giggled. "I'll help you."
