CHAPTER 2

The morning was bright and loud as people started their day with the hope that they will get through it. I was walking to the cafe after taking the bus from the apartment. I had a car which I shared with Kiara but now she owns it and I didn't have any problem with taking the public transport.

As I watched everyone, I realized all of them had a mask of their own. Some people wore it to live and survive the day ahead of them. They were facing difficulty but the mask covered their scars and showed their happy and smiling face. Others did pretend and behave like they are someone with an ugly heart inside but with an innocent and kind nature outside. But there are some people whose heart and mind are ripped and which can never be fixed any kind of mask and no matter how hard they tried they will always be the broken soul.

I have a permanent frown on my forehead when I see the world living when each one of them is dying inside day by day. I was angry and it was justified. I was the girl whose parents had been taken away and whose sister made it her death wish to make her life a living hell. Everyone was selfish and there was no one who truly cared. When I was in pain, I screamed and ruined things. Somehow the destruction of it felt like I was not the only one to whom life was being unfair.

I sighed when I stopped in front of the cafe. It was designed in a beautiful way that it had the attention it deserved. The walls were painted light brown. The glass window showed the full view of the cafe which was filled with little wooden tables and seats attached to them. A shelf was stacked with books took up one wall. The display in the glass counter was of sweets and pastries, cakes and doughnuts, cookies and candies. It looked perfect enough for the customers to feel home here

I opened the door and since it is the morning hour other than a few people, there was no one. It was a wide place and nicely arranged. The wooden ceiling and floor made it more classy and beautiful. I spotted a blonde girl sitting at the counter with her eyes fixed on the phone.

"Hi, I'm Nora." She lifted her emerald eyes and looked at with confusion all over her face.

"Please, take a seat. I will send someone to take your order." She said politely and returned back to watching a tutorial of black smoky eyes. I rolled my eyes and sure enough, I believe she spent her whole morning doing her make up and deciding the outfit for the day which was along-sleeved leopard print top with blue shorts.

I cleared my throat and she frowned thinking why I have not left and found a table yet. She was about to speak again when I said "I am not here to treat myself. Please, it would be really nice if you show me your owner's office so I can get the interview done." I said being annoyed.

"You are here for the job?" She asked and I nodded my eyes. She made a call then showed me a door in the corner.

"Thank you," I said and went to the door. "May I come in?" I asked and I don't know but I was getting unnecessarily angry and I wish I don't screw this interview because I don't want to upset Amy.

"Yes," I heard his velvety voice from behind and I pushed the door open. For a second it was not an office but just a room with a desk in the corner with papers piled on it. There are three bean bags and a few canvas paintings. Charts and markers were lying on the floor and definitely I'm impressed, please note my sarcasm.

"Sorry about the mess." He said that is when I raised my eyes to meet him. I expected a cold-hearted person in a three-piece suit as my boss, not a boy same as my age in a black T-shirt and blue ripped jeans.

That is when the realization struck me, I have seen him somewhere but I couldn't point my finger. The chocolate brown eyes and dark hair showed familiarity and I tried to remember but no name turned up.
