I trudged on. My legs aching. My stomach growling. All I could see for miles and miles was mud, mud and more mud. My feet were rubing against the back of my boots. Leavening me with painfully blisters on my heel. So far we Had seen no fresh water in fact no water at all.

And food wise the last I've had was a couple of strands of grass. After we ran out of supplies we resorted to grass. Which there were only about four strands of. My stomach rumbled again. I clutched it with my hand. My long nails covered in dirt.

Lockie turned to look at me. He swiped his hair from his face. He turned of the track and onto the edge of the diagonal slate of rock we were walking on. He stood right on the edge with the wind blowing through his hair. He looked kinda cute not that I'd tell him.

"Hey look at this!" he beckoned me forward. I cautiously strolled forward. I watched my footing. He seemed to pick up on my carefulness and started to laugh.

"I thought you were the careless type!" he said in a know it all voice.

"Yet but I'm not gonna throw away my life when we've just escaped hell!" I peered over the edge."Wow" I said sarcastica

"I know it's awesome!"

I looked down again just a desert of orange sand. With a cabin in the middle. Why was he so amazed.

"So how are we going to get there?" he asked jumping to a conclusion. I stared at him wide eyes

" You want to go there?!" he just nodded.

"It's shelter from the wind and who knows there might be food there, come on please!" He did puppy eyes.

"Okay but which ways best to get there?" he thought for a moment or two.

"I suggest we go round the path untill we get to somewhere suitable to descend" He mimicked our old school teachers accent. I couldn't help but laugh. I remember us doing ecsactly the same thing at school but with a girl called Mandy. A few weeks later she had fallen ill and dyed. I still remember that day at school when we all had to write about her and read it out to the whole slag.

I remember Mandy not much but her golden brown hair which lay in ringlets all down her back. All the boys loved her. And I remember her smile, it could cheer you up so easily. It was so sweet but also quite cheeky. But one thing that annoyed me about her was she always spoke her mind. But when she fell ill no one had any hope for her. No one has ever survived the darkness. We call it darkness because that's where it leads you to....

Death

Loads of people caught it. it means the last few weeks of your life you spend locked up in your house no one can see you touch you or even be in the same room as you.You spend your last days alone. For even if your family go in the same room as you they will become ill to. Sometimes being alone drives people crazy. There was one man who even burst out of his room spreading the illness. But it wasn't his fault he was crazy. Although that year the death rate went up by ALLOT!!! we were all forced to stay in our huts. Some people starved but we just managed.

That was the year my father left. I have never trusted anyone since. I have never been as close to anyone(including my mother). And i will never!

As far as i can see there is no war here and it is deserted. They took my father away from me. And i don't even know the cause. I hate them. whoever they are!
