Hottest Place In The WorldThe concluding bell had finally rung, and school was out for the day. Everyone rushed to the front doors- pushing and shoving their way through them. You would've thought this was the beginning of black Friday.
After barely surviving the blood bath to get outside, I found my way over towards the courtyard where Bridget, Kelsey, and Heather sat, talking about their day.
"Hey, guys." I said, dropping my backpack down on the table and releasing a loud groan.
Bridget furrowed her brows, "What's the matter?"
I shrugged, deciding it probably wasn't best to mention Caleb in front of Heather for a while- but since she's my best friend and knew everything about her, I didn't even have to speak his name.
"Tell me it's not Caleb again." She demanded, her content face falling deep into a pissed off glare.
I went to open my mouth and contradict her accusation- when someone else, beat me too it.
"It better not me." Her loud, obnoxious, and bitchy voice rang. My body tensed up as soon as I heard her speak. It was Lacey.
I turned around, only to be faced with not only Lacey- but Stacy Marks- Malibu Barbie's twin sister- and her little clique surrounding her as if they were her own, personal bodyguards. Barbie really can be anything.
"I heard you ruined my girl's date." Stacy announced, crossing her arms while giving me a snobby, evil smirk. Her friends Domonique, Rachel, and Naomi did the same behind her. Lacey just smiled- clearly enjoying this. "I don't know about you, Bentley, but I don't think that's very cool."
"Have you ever heard of girl code?" Naomi added, causing all of them to giggle viciously.
All I did was roll my eyes. What did they think this was? A high-school movie? I hate to be the one who rains down on their parade, but confrontations like this don't work like they probably expect it too. That's one of the things about what you see on the screen- it's all fake, and made up.
"Girl code only applies to your friends-" I said, "And if we're being realistic here, I wasn't exactly the one who ruined it."
Lacey looked appalled, and Domonique rushed to comfort her. Are these girls being serious right now? The only thing that could be worse, would be if everyone gathered around us and chanted the word 'fight'.
But like I said, this wasn't a high-school movie- and to be fair, nobody really cared. For everyone to get on board, the issue would have to be a big, supported thing. This- was neither.
Stacy scoffed, "Don't play that innocent game with me. You know what you did."
I gave her an emphasized head shake, "Actually, no. I don't."
"You spilt Lacey's water all over the table, and then made her leave without her date." Naomi interrupted, "How could you say you didn't ruin it?'
Although my timing was terrible, I couldn't help but laugh. Is that honestly what Lacey told them? She literally twisted the whole story to make herself look like the victim. That's not how it was at all.
"Oh, I did, did I?" I had the biggest- and most thrilled- grin on my face right now, which only ticked them all off even more. "That's not even close to what happened."
"There's no point in denying it." Lacey jumped, nodding her head like the psycho brat she was.
I turned to face Bridget, Kelsey, and Heather. Bridget and Kelsey were shooting glares towards the direction of Stacy and her friends, but Heather had her hands buried deep inside of her hair. I wondered why she wasn't trying to back me up, but then I remembered the fight we had earlier. It was clear to me that she was still mad.
