The New Boy

It's 6 in the morning and I really don't want to be up. Why does school have to require you to be up so early? Ugh... Whatever. I better get ready. I pick out some light blue skinny jeans that are ripped in little slits from the ankle to the top of the leg, a black tank top with a pink and black plaid shirt over it, and my black converse.

"Cara!" My mom yells, "your breakfast is getting cold. Hurry up!"

"Coming mom!" I yell back as I walk out my bedroom door.

It's just been my mom and I since dad left us two years ago. I miss the days when I would wake up and we would all have breakfast together. It has been hardest on mom because she has to work and go to college at the same time. She never got a college degree.

"Good morning mom!" I say as I sit down to breakfast. "I hope you slept better than I did last night."

"Good morning sweetie. To be honest I didn't sleep at all. You know it was 2 years ago today that your father left. It's been hard." she says, trying to fight back her tears.

"I know mom. I miss him too. We are doing okay without him though. I just wish he didn't have to be without him" I say. At this point we are both in tears. We finish eating and we both go our separate ways.

I hate the bus. I want so badly to drive to school on my own, but unfortunately I don't have a car. Thankfully my best friends Ashley and Kim help me through it everyday. They have been my best friends since the first grade. We trust each other with our lives and tell each other everything. We all get along so well that it can be scary sometimes.

"Cara you look so tired!" Ashley says.

"Oh leave her alone! You look amazing as always Car." Says Kim, attempting to make me smile. Her attempts works, but not for long.

"Ew! Why is the only seat open the one next to you?!" whines Claire. Claire and I have NEVER gotten along. Ever since the first grade she has hated me and made it her never ending quest to make my life miserable.

"Well Claire there are plenty of other seats. Just none where you can sit alone, and heaven forbid you have to sit next to someone, right?" I say sarcastically.

"Shut up Cara. You are just mad cause your boyfriend left you for me." Claire snaps. About a week ago I found out my boyfriend, Jake, was cheating on me with Claire. I was crying for days afterwards asking myself why I wasn't good enough for him. Of everyone though, I just couldn't see why he would leave me for Claire. Yes, she is prettier than I am with her long jet black hair and green eyes, plus she has a nicer body than I do. The problem is she is a bitch. I don't get how anyone likes her, but she seems to have people drooling over her all the time. It's disgusting honestly.

"Yes, I was hurt at first. Honestly though I couldn't care less anymore. He left me for you, but I don't see why. You may be pretty on the outside Claire, but on the inside you're a snake." I couldn't even think about the words that came out of my mouth before I said them. She was always picking on me and my friends and quite frankly I'm sick of it. But she won't stop by matter what I say or do.

"He doesn't seem to think so." she says as she gets a cocky smile on her face. We finally arrive at school and head to our first class. Of course, as soon as I walk into Mrs. Patters' classroom, "Cara, you need to do something about these grades. You are failing my class" she warns. As I'm still feeling snappy from the ride here, "Well maybe you are failing to educate me! Ever thought about that?!" I hear some of my my classmates gasp and others go "oooh" as I realise what I had just said.

"You are getting a tutor Mrs. Thorne and that's the end of it! You say I have failed to educate you but you have failed to listen! The lack of respect you children have for adults is sickening!" she almost yells. "I already have a tutor in mind for you Mrs. Thorne. He is new here but his records say he was a straight A student in World History at his old school" she says to me as I nod my head shyly. "Mr. Hemmings will you come over here please?" she says to a boy behind me. "Cara, this is Luke. He will be your tutor from now on." Luke stood next to me and basically towered over me. I would guess he was about 6 feet tall. He had blond, quiffed hair, bright blue eyes and a lip ring. Damn he is hot! "I suggest you two find a time to get together. At the rate you are going now you are going to fail my class and not because I failed you, but because you failed yourself. Now go sit."

By time lunch rolled around I was already wanting to curl up in a ball and cry myself to sleep.
"Hey there, " I heard an unfamiliar voice say. "is this seat taken?" I turn and see the beautiful blond boy from earlier. "No. You can sit here." I say shyly.
"Thanks, and hey I think what you said to Mrs. Patter earlier was hilarious. I mean I was only in there for a few minutes and already hated her." Luke says laughing. "Anyway, do you want to have a studying session after school tomorrow?" he asked shyly. Wow he is cute!
"Sure! My place or yours?" I ask. I don't think I have ever been so excited to study.
"Yours if that's alright. We are still unpacking" he states.
"Yeah that's perfect." As I finish that sentence the bell rings. "Well gotta get to class. I'll see you later."
"Alright, later." he says and you both walk off.

Okay school is honestly the worst thing ever. I'm just glad the day is over with. Unfortunately though, I'm on the bus again. One thing that makes it better is Claire isn't on. Ashley, Kim and I talk till it's my stop. I say bye and start walking towards the house. I get inside and hear my mom talking to someone.
"I can't wait til you meet my daughter. She is so sweet!" I hear her say as I walk into the living room. "oh and there she is now! Liz, Luke, this is my daughter Cara." Wait. Did I hear that right? Did she say Luke? Yes. I look up and see the beautiful, tall blond standing in front of me. "Looks like we are neighbors." he says happily.
I smile and blush in response. He is my neighbor. The hottest guy at school lives next door. YEE!

Okay, yes, this isn't the best but I still had fun writing it.
