Chapter 1- The Beginning of the End

I wake up in a magnificent room, painted majestic white with a single teal stripe running through the middle. The tiles are also white, made of granite by the looks of it. I sit up sluggishly, feeling lethargic. What is this place? Where am I? Why don't I have any clothes on?

I look around the room looking for my clothes. "You must be famished."   I grab the covers quickly around myself. "Who's there?" I say quickly. A maid steps into view, looking shy and hesitant. "I brought food for you mistress."

I quickly took the outstretched tray in front of me and ravished the food on it. The food didn't do anything for my hunger as I was still hungry. I was starving but it wasn't for food. My teeth started to feel sharper and in my daze, my head craved for blood.

The maid quickly backed away looking startled, it was too late. I lunged forward sinking my teeth in her jugalar. The maid screams in agony, my fangs quickly taking all of her blood. The maid falls onto the floor lifeless, her souless eyes staring upward at nothing.

I look at the maid in horror, 'I just took a life, I killed her, I'm a monster. My tears dripping down like rain, I collapse to the floor in disarray. A man suddenly walks into the room.

"Vampires are always the same when they awaken, a bunch of pansies, all of them!" A second person walks in behind him, it's Jack! The man continues "This is the one of the many reasons why wolves are superior." He stares at me in disgust a scowl forming on his face.

I was still on the floor, a complete mess. I whisper "J-Jack?" Jack turns to the man. "Normally I would agree with you Garrick but in this case i would disagree." "You have met the vampire queen have you not?" The man replies "Of course I have she was the most beautiful maiden in all the land able to strike fear in even the most fiercest and bravest of the wolves."

"Sadly she died a couple years back, no one knows, how, or where, or when she passed away, but her flame died out which means she's dead."

Jack turns to me, "You also know that the Vampire Flame re-ignited ten days ago, exactly when Miss Wiltshere awakened." Garrick's eyes widened in disbelief "You can't be serious!" "I am dead serious Kate here is the new Vampire Queen."

At this point in time I had no idea what they were talking about, it sounded like a dramtic fanfiction. I couldn't process what they were saying. Jack kneels and carries me onto the bed. He sits beside me.

"Kate, you've missed a lot in the past few days he says in a low voice." "For one half of the human race was wiped out six days ago by a meteor. All of Europe, Asia, and Africa have been rid of life."

"The vampires and wolves all moved to America for a clan meeting yesterday so both clans are alright, but I don't expect you to know that the clans even existed so I won't elaborate." "The Americas is all any race on this planet has left, we suspect that the meteor was of alien origin."

My mind was going 1,000 miles per minute, eveeything was happening so fast. I couldn't even believe what he just said it sounded crazy. "No this isn't happening, you're lying trying to trick me!" I sounded hysterical, heck I was hysterical.

He grabbed the remote on the desk and turned on the TV. The news reporter was confirming his story. I stared in shock at this revelation, President Mavis Vermillion started speaking "Tuesday was a terrible tragedy to all of mankind, the meteor was discovered too late its origin is unknown."

The TV turns off. "Do you believe me now?" All I could manage was a nod. My head was spinning and I felt I was about hurl. "The President may deny it right now but there's war coming I can feel it and no one is safe."

I look out the window toward the horizon, "For Humanity's sake" I stare at Jaspers green eyes, "I hope you're wrong."
