We walked into the throne room. I nearly ran up to my room with stage-fright by seeing ALL those people. My dad squeezed my hand as if he knew what I was thinking. Slowly but carefully lead me to my seat. My seat had a golden rim; I wondered why almost everything I owned had a golden rim. I sat down on the pink, cushioned seat. I was careful not to wrinkle my dress.
I had once seen my father and mother do this. I didn’t have anything better to do at the time. So, I sat straight up and said, “Come forward…please” I smiled slightly, encouraging the man to come forward.
“Hello Princess Kim, daughter of deceased Queen Ella and daughter of King Richard.” He started off. I rolled my eyes it would take till next week if we kept starting off like this.
My father, King Richard looked at me angrily. I supposed it was for the eye-rolling.
The man continued with a cough, “I’m very poor. I don’t know what to do, my wife died in an accident one week ago. Ma’am I have 4 children, and if I go to work they will be home alone. I don’t know what to do. Please help me.”
I had started tearing up… 4 kids with no mother!
My father called the man with him and said sternly, “This is not our problem. Please leave.”
I stared at my father wide-eyed. I was about to call the man again when my father put his fingers to his lips which had been set in a frown. The entire evening went by like this. I think that there were a total of 150 people there and the so-called helpful king helped 60. When the last person was sent away, I stuck out my tongue at my dad (that was the worst I could do) and left stomping up the steps to my room.
I took off my formal clothing and got ready for bed, putting on my pink night gown. I looked at the clock; it was 9:00 p.m. it had only taken 3 hours. Then, I wondered why I was going to bed so early (I had never went to school, so no need for sleeping early; my bedtime was at 11:00 p.m.) I had nothing better to do at the moment so I opened up my cupboard which was filled with art supplies and walked to my window. I put the canvas in my lap and started to paint the night sky, adding every detail possible. While I was drawing I pretended that my mother was beside me telling me what she saw along with me; like we used to do before. When I finished my painting I added the two deer that had been in the other painting. In the fawn I scrawled down Princess Kim with a black pen. In the deer I also wrote Queen Ella with the same pen. I hung the picture on my wall when I found a spare nail. I looked outside my window until it was 11:15 p.m. Just as I laid my head on my fluffy pillow I was knocked out with a rush of deep sleep.
The next morning, I was woken up at 6:00 a.m. I rubbed my eyes and frowned at first, looking at the clock. Then, I saw Lawrence sitting at the edge of my bed, grinning widely. I kicked off my blanket and got out of bed. “Lawrence! What…Where… Why are you in my room?!”
He waved and said, “Kim, I have more bad news for you. But I think that it is a bit exciting for me” He paused letting me sink the statement in.
I said quickly, before I could lose my temper (Yes, you might be thinking, why get mad? I will lose my temper because I bet it is something else about royalty,) “Please, Please, Please, just spit it out!” I begged him.
