Beau stared at the horrific scene in front of her. Her heart pounded as she looked at her unconscious professor. Beau looked at her older best friend Mindy-who looked like she was going to throw up everything she had that day. Mindy had seen a lot in her life, but a bleeding body wasn't one she would get used too."What are we going to do?" Beau asked, starting to panic a little.
"Definitely do not call the police," Mindy decreed. She needed to clean herself up. She had blood that was starting to dry on her shirt.
"But he is bleeding Mindy. If he dies, it's on us, all of it, so, please, let me call the police. I don't know if I can handle murder. I just started high school," Beau confessed as she pulled out her phone. Mindy sighed. She didn't have much of a choice. She would be pinned for the crime.
"Fine, but let me get washed up in the girl's locker room, so don't call them until I text you," as Mindy was about to exit the room, she paused at the door frame. "Oh and don't forget to wipe down anything that has our fingerprints on them, like the desk and the crowbar." Mindy reminded before stepping out of the room.
Beau found and opened the container of disinfecting wipes and pulled one out. She rubbed the container and the lid. Then she went to any and everything that was touched by the two girls. As for Mindy, she silently made her way towards the girl's locker room. Once she got there, she yanked on the door. Of course, it was locked. They always locked the locker rooms before and after each period. Mindy cursed under her breath. She needed somewhere to clean herself off, but she couldn't keep Beau waiting. Mindy pulled out her phone and composed a message to Beau.
Mindy: Go ahead. I will be back soon.
A few minutes later Beau responded.
Beau: You sure?
Mindy: When am I not?
Now would be a good example. Mindy wasn't ready for a janitor to start walking down the same hallway as her, but the janitor had headphones in, and from what Mindy could tell, it was blasting, but that didn't stop Mindy from bolting down the hallway and into a random bathroom. Panting, Mindy let the door slam behind her. She went in the furthest stall from the door and locked herself in it. She then proceeded to change into the athletics clothes that she had in her bag.
She then took her bloody clothes and attempted to wash them with soap and water. She started to get concerned when the blood wasn't coming out. Yet again, Mindy cursed under her breath. She ringed out her wet clothes and folded them up neatly. Once she did that, she shoved them back into her school bag. She then knew that she needed to put her bag back in her locker, but the only problem with that was her locker was on the second floor of the school.
The bathroom door started to crack open. She knew it had to be that stupid janitor that was walking down the hallway. She internally groaned. She knew she had nowhere to hide. The obvious thing was to turn herself in. But Mindy not wanting to get caught, she stayed as quiet as possible.
"Hello?" the janitor called out. She stepped inside the bathroom and turned on the lights. Mindy remained silent and got lower to the ground. "Is anybody there?" the janitor questioned as she ventured further into the bathroom. Mindy quietly set her bag down and lifted herself up. Once the janitor got into Mindy's sight, she covered the janitor's mouth and pressed her against the wall.
Operator: 9-1-1 what's your emergency?
Beau: My professor-Mr. Norman- is unconscious on the floor and he is bleeding.
Operator: Honey, what're you doing at school so late?
Beau didn't think this through. She didn't have a believable excuse to tell the police. She couldn't go to jail. She would be considered a criminal. She could never go to a good college with a criminal record.
Operator: Miss, are you there?
Beau: Um, yes. Yes, I am.
Operator: Can you answer a few of my questions honey?
Beau: He's bleeding a lot. Can you get an ambulance?
Operator: I understand that. And there is a dispatch crew and an ambulance on the way. But you need to tell me what you are doing at school so late.
Beau: I went to tutoring. I was studying for something and I needed extra time. How long until they get here?
Operator: Does this teacher of yours have a family?
Beau: He has a daughter I think. Why is that important? How far are you?
Operator: 10 more minutes. I just need you to remain calm. Can you tell me how old she is?
Beau: I don't know. From the pictures he has on his desk, I can assume that she is in college.
Operator: Okay. I am going to ask you what happened. Can you tell me what happened?
Beau started to worry about Mindy. It's been about fifteen minutes since Mindy left for the locker rooms and thirteen of those minutes were spent looking for the locker room. Mindy is a sophomore, so Beau was pretty sure that Mindy knew where she was going.
Operator: Miss, are you there?
Beau: Sorry. I can't focus.
Operator: I understand that. But can you tell me what happened?
Beau: He got up and told me that he was going to be right back then he just collapsed. Are they almost here?
Operator: Okay Honey. Do you know why he collapsed? Did he have any medical conditions?
Beau: No, I don't. And I have no idea. But I should go now.
Operator: Wait-
It was already too late. Beau hung up the phone. She felt dumb for not asking how long it was until the police got there. Beau took the crowbar and headed towards her locker. She knew she had to put it somewhere and this classroom was the worst spot to keep it too. Police would be swarming that room. She couldn't risk it.
Once she got to her locker, she turned on her phone flashlight and put it in her code. She put the crowbar in her locker as well as her school bag. Beau Carefully closed her locker and made her way to the girl's locker room. Before she could enter the locker room, Mindy exited the locker room, nearly startling Beau.
"Where were you?" Beau screeched as Mindy closed the door and locked it with the keys. "I ran into a complication, but as you can see, I got the keys." Mindy held up the keys and jiggled them. Beau rolled her chocolate brown eyes. "Come on, we don't have much time," Beau told Mindy as she started to pull walk away. Mindy quickly stopped Beau. "What?" Beau asked, turning around to face Mindy.
"You can't leave. If you called the police, they would expect you to be there. You have to stay here. It's much safer that way." Mindy started to head to the front door. "Where are you going? You're not leaving me are you?" Mindy groaned as she pivoted around.
"I'm not leaving you. Just moving my car to a different location. I don't need the police on my back,"
"Promise me you will come back,"
"Just go back to Mr. Norman's room and wait for the police to get there. I can assure you that everything will be fine. Trust me."
Beau did. Beau trusted Mindy very much. Beau waited for the police in the front of the school as she watched Mindy pull out of the parking spot. The thing that Beau didn't know was Mindy had other plans in mind and going back for Beau was the last thing on her list.
Mindy drove around the back of the school. She didn't park there though. Instead, she drove down to an old friend of hers. Mindy walked to the metal door and knocked on it. The door opened and Mindy smiled.
"Mindy it's so nice to see you again."
