Chapter 2

I followed my father out onto the field and everything seemed to stop. All eyes were on my father and I as he led me over to the group of men standing by home plate.

"Donnie!" A loud voice laughed as I look up at my father who was smiling brightly.

"Hey Mike!" My dad smiled, shaking the man's hand.

"Donnie baseball!" Another voice chuckled as my father began laughing.

"Tim, what's up buddy?" My father smiled as he firmly shook the guys hand.

"Who is this?" Tim smiled, gesturing to me before crossing his arms.

"This is the new addition to our team, Camryn!" My father patted my shoulder and I smiled softly.

"What does she do?" One of the men chirped and my father laughed, shaking his head.

"She studied kinesiology and physical therapy and is considered one of the most reliable and useful sources throughout the entire league!" My father bragged and I laughed softly, crossing my arms.

"I also closely studied the science of biomechanics along side some of the most well-known sports related surgeons in thew world. I not only grew up around baseball but I also previously worked with the Yankees, Dodgers and the Nationals." I smiled and the men all looked at me with shocked faces.

"When did you work with the Yankees?" My father hissed, turning to look at me.

"Do you not remember that semester I spent in New York interning with them?" I looked up at my father and he nodded, smiling softly.

"On top of that, Camryn here is also my daughter!" My father smiled, patting my shoulder as everyone cleared their throats, standing up straight. "Cam, I want you to spend today working with Mr. Mike Pagliarulo and Mr. Frank Menechino, our wonderful hitting coaches. Make sure nobody pulls anything!" He sighed and I nodded, looking at the two men I was going to be working with today. "I want Perry and Tim with the infielders and I want Fredi with the outfielders. Dean and Brian work with the pitchers and catchers. Make sure our trainers do something to help warm everyone up and make sure they're split up evenly between pitchers and catchers, infield, and outfield." My father sighed. Everyone nodded before walking off to their designated area. I followed Mike and Frank to the indoor batting cages.

I dropped my backpack down and took off the black trainer shirt. I walked into the cage and helped the guys set up the L screens and the tees. As we were setting everything up, a group of 4 or 5 guys walked in, all laughing and smiling.

"I see we're stuck with the outfielders first?" Mike chuckled and the tallest man laughed, shrugging his shoulders.

"They're giving you the easiest first!" He smirked as he pulled on his batting gloves. Mike and Frank walked out of the cages as I was still setting up some of the last cages. When I walked out of my cage, everyone stopped talking and just stared at me.

"Guys, this is our new-" Mike froze, just staring at me. "What exactly are you?" Mike gulped and everyone chuckled softly and I cleared my throat.

"The Nationals had me labeled as an 'Injury prevention specialist' but with the Dodgers and the Yankees I just worked along side the Head Trainer." I smiled and the chuckling stopped. "But you guys can call me Camryn!" I sighed, walking over to my backpack. I pulled out my laptop and opened it, looking over some of the footage from previous games of these guys. As I studied the film, I realized that everyone was staring at me. I paused the video and looked up at them. "What?" I smiled softly and they cleared their throats, shaking their heads.

"Did you father tell you what he wants us to work on?" Mike gulped and I shook my head.

"He wants you guys to do whatever you'd do if I wasn't here!" I smiled and they nodded.

"Then I want two people working on tee work, feed for each other, and then one person in one cage with me and one in the other with Frank!" Mike clapped and everyone nodded, walking into their cages leaving me to the precious films of some of the best hitters in the country.
