It had been quite a while since these two had fallen in love with each other.
Each and every day, she would send him presents, each present a precious creation she had spent hours on, just to make sure that it would be as perfect as the previous one.
Each and every day , he would sit and wait, watching the presents arrive, taking them into his arms, holding them close.
Treasuring them, forever and ever.
He had kept each of the presents she made for him, kept them all close and took care of them, ensured that they would never break apart or be lonely.
These presents, that she made him, were none other than the various different souls, travelling through their individual lives until they could share their experiences with him.
Each present, was unique but similar at heart, for each present was carefully manufactured by her gentle and loving hands.
She continued to give life to her souls, watching them grow, be happy, sad and find love throughout their lives.
He always listened to the stories they told him, curiously, expectantly.
Because each story was different from the one before, each story had its own special charm, its own special spark that would make him feel.. Alive.
As time passed, and she had started to think of other ways to show her love, he had started to miss her more and more.
After all, these two were polar opposites, no other pair more contrary than these two together.
Even though they had these obvious differences, they couldn't love each other more.
But it was sure that if she were to get too close to him, that would be the end of her life.
And the end of all others.
Life had loved Death for many many centuries, and her longing just grew bigger, bigger, and it was an act out of sheer desperation as she finally gathered the courage to get closer to her love.
As she eventually got closer and closer to him, he had realized what they were doing, that their story was about to end.
But neither of them wanted this, anything but an end, so both stopped in their tracks.
The many souls that had gathered over the past centuries lit their surroundings in a soft glow, as both realized what they could do, to stay close, and not perish from their differences.
Life would keep sending Death her beautiful gifts, and Death would keep his eyes over them, before he would send them back to her, to give each of these souls another chance, a new life, and they both could exchange their gifts of love, eventually creating a perfect cycle of life and death, without ever having to part ways.
