CHAPTER EIGHT

I awake in tangles. Glancing at dead-asleep Taehyung, wrapping his harms around my torso with every breath I take. We lay on my own bed, in my room. I'm convinced this is some bizarre dream.

"Taehyung, wake up." I wobble his shoulder and he draws it back. "Wake up."

"Hoseok, shut up."

"It's Jeongguk."

Without moving his eyelids he replies, "oh, that's weird." There's a pause. "I'm not complaining though." His eyes flutter between sleep and reality and I wonder if we flew to my dorm room in the midst of the night.

I tense up, looking over to see if Yoongi sleeps in his own bed as-well, but it stays perfectly made at every corner, untouched and cold.

I lay back down, Taehyung crawls up my neck, inserting himself in my brain and never leaving.

"Yeah, of course," I said.

"Good." Taehyung looked down at the the twisted bed covers he laid under. His lips morphed a smile. "If I put my clothes on, will you drive u-us back to your dorm?" He looked up at me, eyes watered and glimmering with the lighting in the room. I sighed so intensely, my body collapsed. Taehyung grinned at me though, his smile was a boxed one, drunk and out of this world. I nodded. The sheets lifted beneath us and I carried Taehyung all the way to the place he's now deemed home.

"J-jeongguk?" Taehyung's voice brings me back to right now, us laying in my bed. A half and half combination warming up under comforter.

"Yeah, what's up?"

"Want to go to IHOP?"

My heart bursts at the seams.

°

Taehyung lays his head dramatically on the table and groans. His hair cascades all over, almost crawling up my neck.

"Why'd you let me drink so much?" I can't see his face but I know he's frowning into the wooden, red-stained table.

"I was barely with you the whole night."

Taehyung releases another groan I'm sure all the families and senior citizens around us hear before our food arrives. He engulfs it in a matter of a minute. Leaning back into the sapphire seamed booth, I push my plate to his side.

"Here, you can have the rest. I'm full." Taehyung's eyes switch on and the light blinds my own.

"Really Jeonggukie?!" My chest soars and I can barely bring myself to nod. He never drops the smile as he eats the waffles topped with whipped cream in front of him.

Once leaving, Taehyung grumbles at the light, inching closer to me. The only time I've seen him reject the sun's rays and not be immersed in light. He wraps almost his whole body around my right arm, staggering so close to me that we might mold into one.

A gust of wind gets a hold of the both of us and Taehyung, in his hangover, hazy state, gets the idea to go to the antique shop next to the sidewalk we saunter through.

"This looks like you!" He presents a frog riding a bike to me and begins to giggle as much as a deep-voiced, college boy can giggle.

I turn towards one of the towering, archaic shelves, picking up a small, porcelain turtle and turning back to Taehyung.

"This looks like you."

His eyes enlarge, taking up half his face and he snatches the small turtle from my palm and places it next to the frog on his hand. "I'm getting them," he says.

°

The night drapes its wings over our heads and we're sitting on top of Taehyung's bed. One that is sinking the both of us to the ground and he's fiddling with the turtle in his hands and smiling so hard, his eyes have disappeared into his face. His hair curtains his skin and cheeks as Taehyung bows his head lower.

Burning aching seconds pass, giving me ample time to realize we always end up in each other's beds, when Taehyung looks up at me in an outburst. His eyes glimmer dwarf planets and stars as he bores his gaze into mine. He leans very suddenly and kisses my chapped and winter coated lips.

"Want to date?" He asks. He's breathing so hard, I can hear it but more so can feel it because I'm breathing hard as well. "Want to be mine?" Ruby sneaks up his collarbones and cheeks and I remember he's talking to me, no one else in the world, but me.

I nod. "Let's go for it."
