Chapter 1

Have you ever thought about dying? Did you ever wonder what happens to us when we leave our bodies? Well, I have, everyone does at one point in there lives. People think that I'm weird or kind of creepy when I ask questions like this. I can assure you, I am not. I let my curiosity get the best of me. When I was young my mom passed away in a car accident. She was driving to my friend Rebecca's house and, for some reason, we spun out of control into the jungle with no way of getting out. I don't remember what happened after that. My dad says I passed out and mom died from the impact but he doesn't no why I survived if I wasn't even in my car seat. Back then I was 8 and everything after that happened so quickly. My moms funeral, my best friend moved to a different school, my grades started slipping, and no one would talk to me. My life was a complete mess until I finally realized that I need to help myself. I couldn't keep slacking off. And today I am valedictorian and graduationg high school. I don't  exactly feel sad anymore. My life is all I wanted or at least that's what I thought.

Today was the same, boring, normal day. I woke up early so I wouldn't be late for my first day of work at the coffee shop 30 minutes away from my apartment. I wanted to start work right away after my graduation that took place yesterday. I hopped staight into my car and started on my way to work. When I pulled up into the parking lot only 3 cars were there. As I walked into the glass door to the coffee shop I noticed in my side view my boss in his office doing some paper work and he looked as frustrated as I was taking my last exam. "huh... I miss school and my friends," I said out loud without noticing. I guess the girl I work with, Sara, tapped me on the shoulder. "Are you okay Hope?" I struggled to swallow. "Yeah," I forced to say. "I have abandonment issues." She looked worried. I try to hide my emotions because of this. I know, I am pithetic for still feeling bad about something that happened 12 years ago but I lost my mom, forever. I dazed off daydreaming about the car crash. It felt like I was reliving it. I heard my mom screaming that she loved me, I saw the car spinning uncontrolably, I felt the impact of the car driving into the jungle, and I tasted the blood.

Waking me up from the daze, my boss, Tara called me into her office to get my supplies. I quickly shook my head and woke up. As I started walking toward the office a girl walked in with a uniform on. She looked at me with a snare. " Hey, I'm Blue. You are?" she said with a glare. "Oh.. um.." I hesitated. "Hope," I exclaimed trying not to sound like my normal self, a small, delicate, little girl. She walked straight passed me, she seemed rude and mean. I didn't like this girl. Tara seemed to know her very well. They were talking, laughing, and it was almost like they were best friends. When they were finally done I walked in. The mood suddenly changed. Instead of being nice and friendly the way she was with Blue, she was a serious, almost emotionless, lady that probably didn't care about me. She glared at me and handed me the supply box. Knowing I wasn't wanted I made my way to the cashier and noticed my long lost friend, Rebecca sitting in the table at the corner of the coffee shop.
