My name is Percy Jackson, born and raised in New York. Well, for the most part. I'm over 18 years old, have survived two wars and I'm a demigod. Yes, there is God, well technically there are Gods and Goddesses, you know the Greek ones. There is Zeus, king of the Gods or Jupiter as the Romans call him. There is Poseidon or Neptune, God of the seas, brother to Zeus and father to yours truly. Then there is the third brother Hades or Pluto, God of the Underworld, together they are called the big three. There is the Olympian council consisting of 12 Go...sorry...14 Gods, old habits.
The first war I fought was the second Titan war in 2009. If you don't know who Titans are I'll give you the short version, titans were powerful beings that used to rule the earth before the Gods. Their leader was Kronos the titan of time and my Grandfather. Zeus along with his brothers defeated him during the first titan war establishing the reign of the Gods. Kronos was fated to rise again to exact his vengeance upon Olympus (home of the Gods), well he did and we defeated him at a great price. For my efforts in the war the Gods of Olympus offered me godhood which I declined and instead asked them to claim their demigod children before they turn 13, to construct the cabins for Hades and minor Gods at camp and the release of peaceful Titans.
Then after that there was the second great prophecy and with my luck I was definitely part of it. We fought the giants and their mother Primordial Gaea herself. We won again, barely and again I was offered godhood. You can guess, I turned it down again and instead asked that the thrones of Hades and Hestia be returned to them and their status in the Olympian council be reinstated. After two very difficult wars, a lot of lives lost at both the camps, I couldn't bear to lose anyone else and sought to live a normal mortal life, well as normal as it can be, with my girlfriend Annabeth. Wait, I have to tell you about Annabeth. She is a daughter of Athena and the first time I laid eyes on her was at camp half-blood.
I haven't told you about camp half-blood, have I? See, there are two camps for the children of Gods, the children of the Greek form of the Gods go to camp half-blood and the children of the roman form go to camp Jupiter. I, being the son of Poseidon, spent a lot of time at camp half-blood. We learn to fight and survive here from our mentor Chiron, who by the way is a centaur, how cool is that! Getting back to Annabeth, I met her at camp and in a couple of years I was head over heels for her, who wouldn't be. She is Annabeth! She now wants a normal life and so do I. We are going to college together and I couldn't be happier, well I could be if my dead friends would somehow be alive but you get my point, after a shitstorm of a life it was finally my time to be happy. "And I am HAPPY", I shouted then realized it was 6 am on a Sunday morning.
Annabeth, still mostly asleep, kicked my leg. I winced and complained "Hey, what was that for?" "Stop shouting in your sleep, Seaweed Brain", Annabeth replied her eyes still closed. She looked like she was awake but trying to keep her eyes shut. I leaned in, kissed her on the right cheek and whispered, "who says I'm asleep, Wise Girl?". She smiled and pulled me close for a kiss. This is how life should be, I thought as I held her in my arms, normal, awesome and.....some more awesome.
It felt like only a couple of minutes have passed, then the doorbell rang. I glanced at the clock and it was 7:43am. I asked Annabeth if she was expecting someone, to which she said no. I groaned in irritation and answered the door. To my surprise, I found a curly haired Caucasian teenager who I sadly knew. He was Apollo.
Apollo has been the God of sun, archery, music, healing, prophecy and a few other stuff who was now forced to quest as a mortal, without any powers as a punishment from Zeus for his shortcoming in the second giant war. He had shown up at my house in New York a few months back asking for help and I helped him on one condition that it was the last time I'll ever hear from the Gods but here he was again knocking on my door this early in the morning.
"What do you want Apollo or should I say Lester?" I asked him in a tone that pretty much conveyed that I was annoyed by his presence, had no interest in hearing his problems whatsoever and he can't do anything about it. What? I'm not the bad guy here, it's his quest after all. Mortals learned not to depend on Gods, it's time Gods learned to deal with their mess. But before I could express more displeasure on the matter I noticed his bloodshot eyes and tear marks on his cheeks. Feeling guilty I invited him inside closing the door behind him.
