|| Millie ||

It was just a lazy Saturday night when we decided to watch it: Stranger Things. Sadie was over at my house and as soon as we clicked into the program we were hooked. Amazing plot, swoon-worthy ships, stunning effects, and an amazing cast, though Sadie insists I would be an even better Eleven. Now we're pretty much obsessed with the show.

"Sadie!" I call, as my absolute best friend Sadie Sink waltzes into the cafeteria, followed by her boyfriend Caleb McLaughlin. They're both kinda school heartthrobs, but they don't let it get to them. They're just normal people, after all.

"Hey, Mills!" Sadie yells, coming to hug me.

"Hey, Millie," Caleb says.

"Hey," I tell him, then turn back to Sadie. "So, Sadie, are you so so excited for tonight?!" I say, grinning.

"Oh god, yes!" She says.

"Aaaaaand, this is when I leave," Caleb says, not wanting to stick around for Sadie and I's fangirl session. "Yo, Gaten!" He runs off to another of our friends.

The reason Sadie and I are so excited is because Stranger Things 2 airs tonight. We're having a sleepover at Sadie's and are staying up for the midnight release, then we're gonna binge the whole season. Plus, tomorrow's a Saturday so we don't have school to worry about.

Sadie and I catch up with Caleb and Gaten in the lunch line, get our gross cafeteria food, and head to an empty table. Next to us on one side is the dorky kids' table where Noah Schnapp and Finn Wolfhard are sitting talking about some nerdy game.

"Hey, Millie," Noah says quietly.

"Uh, hi." I smile at him, blush, then turn back to my friends. I can still hear Finn and Noah whispering, probably about me. I pull at the collar of my sweater and glance around. At another table near us are some of the older kids: Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, Charlie Heaton, Shannon Purser, and Natalia Dyer. They're all pretty nice, but their popularity evades their kindness on some occasions. I guess I can't really say anything, though. My sister is dating Dacre. But he's definitely the nicest of them.

"Yo, Millie, you're all zoned out," Caleb says.

"Oh... sorry."

"It's fine, Millie. We were just talking about the Halloween Bash," Sadie explains. Ah, yes. The Halloween Bash, the annual costumed dance here at ATL High.

"Yeah, Soodie and I are going. Gaten's pending-"

"That's not what I said-"

"Whatever, yeah. Anyway, what about you Mills? Anyone in mind?" Caleb teases.

"I told you guys. I'm not interested in any boys right now." I say exasperatedly. Any boys. Oh God.

"Everyone has a date," Gaten says.

"You don't have a date," I snap back.

"I'm working on it. It's just that nobody can handle this," He says flirtatiously, doing his signature little Wookiee growl thing that apparently "gets the ladies."

"Well, maybe you two could just go together," Sadie suggests.

"What?" I gasp.

"Ew. No," Gaten closes his eyes and shakes his head. "No offense, Millie."

"None taken," I conclude.

"Okay then..." Caleb says.

"Well, what about Noah?" Sadie asks. I roll my eyes. Everyone in our little group here ships "Nillie" because we used to hang out some in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL when we were neighbors. Well, we're still neighbors, but now it's high school and you can't just hang out with a guy without everyone thinking you're dating. Plus, we're in totally different friend groups. The Schnapps do still come over sometimes.

"No," I say simply.

"But he totally likes you," Gaten says.

"Shut up, he's right there."

"Whatever," Sadie teases, grinning. She ships us more than Jancy from Stranger Things, and that's saying something.

Sometimes I worry about Millie a little bit. Like, as a fourteen-year-old girl, how do you not like a boy? Whatever.

Anyway, I'm so psyched for tonight. Millie and I love Stranger Things so much, and we've been counting down the months, days, hours, minutes, and seconds for forever. And it comes out tonight. We're both ecstatic. Caleb, on the other hand, couldn't care less. He says the show is "nerdy" but we all know he's just secretly afraid of the demogorgon.

The lunch bell rings, pulling me out of my thoughts. God, I hate the sound of the bell, all screechy and sinister. At least in a few hours it'll signal the end of the day and Millie and I can head to my house!

I walk the halls with Gaten to our math class. We're juniors, and Caleb's a senior. Millie's still only a freshman, but obviously age doesn't matter to us. Millie and I met in middle school because we were both getting tutored in math by Shannon Purser, who's, like, a complete genius and has tutored a bunch of kids at school, including me, Millie, and Noah. I used to suck at math, but thanks to Shannon and two years of tutoring, I've learned to understand it better. I mean, it's not like I'm top of the class now, but still, I'm surviving whereas before I was drowning.

Math seems to take forever today, and French even longer. Then there's Bio and study hall. Study hall is my favorite class, if you even really call it that. Mostly because the whole school merges so I can see Millie. We chat about Stranger Things (because what else is there to talk about?) and try to get through some homework, but we're too excited to concentrate very well.

When the school day's finally over, Millie and I meet on the front steps to wait for my older sister Veronica. She's a senior, and is usually let out of class a bit after us because her math teacher, Ms. Faulkner, is evil. I also have a brother named Simon who's at college.

Millie and I ride home in anticipation. When we get there, my mom makes sure to get on our asses about homework, but I don't mind too much cause I figure it'll pass the time until midnight.

"Sadie, I'm having trouble with these negative subtraction things," Millie says after a while.

"Well, subtraction is just the addition of negation," I say. "So, if you, like, change it to addition of the opposite, then that's..."

"Right, right, right, thanks, Sades. So now I... why does it have to be a fraction?!" Millie shouts. "And what is y!?... Sorry I'm just totally brain dead right now... too excited for tonight." She giggles a little.

"Yeah. So what're you trying to do?"

"I'm trying to find out what the hell x is. And there's all these weird variables and- ugh."

"Okay, okay." I say, and lean over her to try and help, feeling a little flush of heat as I get closer. Probably from the stress of Mental Abuse To Humans (it's an acronym).

"We need Shannon," She groans, but eventually we get it right, thank the lord. I mean, no offense but it's mostly me... Millie's still struggling in math a little.

It's already dinner time when we've finished, and Veronica shouts, "Sadie! Millie! What do you want on pizza?"

"Cheese," Millie says.

"Wimmmmp," I say. "We'll have half cheese, half Hawaiian!" I tell Veronica. "Thanks!"

Only six hours 'til Stranger Things 2!

Hey guys! Just a few notes. First off, Millie and Sadie's siblings are not the same as in real life. These girlies are really just fc's and the bases for characters. Obviously I don't own Stranger Things so don't go screaming at me for references.

Thanks for reading, ily <3
