Kris woke up earlier than usual than the summer weekends. It’s only been a week but he’s already used to waking up early. But still, it’s later than in the weekdays… It’s already past 7 AM. He got home late last night after hanging out in the park and playing a song.
Kim…
He’ll call her later… or maybe now; it depends, if his buddies would not get to him first. He, Robbie and Paolo would often meet up in the morning then have lunch in any of their houses, then on in the afternoon. They’ll usually hang-out in the malls – one quite far but classy and the rest quite near but, well…
He’s still sleepy, but he also wants to get used to waking up early. He can plug in his Gibson Les Paul… but in the end decided to turn the stereo on instead… loud. He tuned it to… of course, NU 107.5 (at this time it’s the only rock station he knows – The Home of NU Rock), just when the DJ announces the next song, The Offspring’s Come Out and Play, which had just entered the US Rock Charts.
Alright! Another new band!!
Kris thought, not knowing that the band had been quite around for long and had only started to go commercial.
Gotta keep ‘em separated…
He strapped his Gibson Les Paul, played along (unplugged – of course he knows the chords) and jumped on his bed as the punk song played. He can play the riffs perfectly. The stereo was loud and wild… so that he didn’t hear the knocking.
The song finished as he collapsed in bed, with guitar still strapped, and it’s only when he heard his mother knocking on the door… and he had been playing the stereo loud at an early hour… Uh oh…
He opened the door anyway.
“Good morning”, Carmen said in a firm, sarcastic tone.
“Good morning, Ma…” Kris scratched his head, “I’m sorry too…”
“Well, since you’re already very awake anyway, breakfast’s ready.”
“Okay…”
He went down (after changing to his home outfit of simple t-shirt and shorts) and saw that the TV had been moved a bit nearer to the dining table. They were watching the morning news. As if there’s anything new… since last month it seems as things never changed.
“How’s the whole week so far, Kris and Thea?” Tony asked as they sat for breakfast.
“It was fun! I was elected muse of the class!!” Thea answered joyfully. For the past days, she had been happy about how popular she was already in the class… especially with the boys. Wait until you’ve grown up, Thea hehehe… or rather… Mom and Dad, YOU wait until she grows up hehehe… Kris thought, smiling as he did.
“Hey you smirker”, Tony said to Kris, seeing the smile, “How about you?”
“Oh!” Kris said with a start, “Uhmmm… the classes are fine, except for Chemistry with the really strict teacher, hehehe…”
