Side girl

Monday morning came and Maddie was excited to go to school for once. She was in a good place right now and wanted to stay in the frame of mind she was currently in. It was a cold, November morning even though the sun was shining bright. Maddie put on the red puffer jacket she had saved up for and walked out the door.

Normally, Maddie was the first one at the bus stop. She hated being late, so was always at the bus stop a solid 10 minutes before necessary. Except today, Crispin was there, with a random girl who wasn't April, or anyone Maddie had seen before. They clearly had something going on, they were the literal definition of pda. Disgusting. The girl had what looked like home-dyed hair that was an awful red/orange shade and she had her eyebrow pierced. She wore fishnet tights even though it was sub-zero and a ripped black denim skirt. Her 'coat' was a ratty jumper with holes and tears in it. 'Multiple girls on the go?' Maddie thought to herself. Very interesting...

When the bus finally came and everyone was sitting down, Maddie turned around.
"Does April know you have another girl on the side?" Maddie asked sweetly
"Maddie, I'm warning you, people are going to get hurt if you try and play this game," Crispin replied in a serious tone.
"So she doesn't?"
Crispin avoided eye contact "Technically, no."
This made Maddie furious. Clearly Crispin had commitment issues or something because he could not stick to one person. As much as Maddie hated April, Crispin couldn't go around with another girl after he got bored of the first one and not have the heart to end it.
"What the hell? You can't just go around with different girls whenever you fucking please! In case you didn't know, we get hurt more when you can't be bothered to end it with us! Do you want to know what happened to me during the time you were with April? All those times you would flake on me last minute? You fucking broke me, Crispin, I developed a fucking eating disorder! Remember how at the beginning of the year I didn't come into school? I was in the hospital being treated for something that I could've completely avoided if you'd plucked up the courage to tell me that it was over! So I don't care if you don't want me to tell April; because as much as I don't like her, no one should have to through what I did you bastard," Maddie hadn't meant to say that last part. Tell him about the eating disorder. She had essentially given away her biggest weakness. The only people that knew where Ruth, Daisy (they visited her every weekend) and her mum.
"Shit. Maddie I'm so sorry. If I'd known-"
"If you'd known you would've thought before you acted." Maddie said in a stone cold expression.

"Where's April?" Maddie said to the common room as she barged in. She was still mad, Crispin was a few steps behind her.
"I'm here?" April said with confusion. Maddie grabbed her by the arm and pulled her into a small room. April winced but Maddie was on the war path and didn't notice. Maddie saw Tyler as she was doing this.
"Mad are you ok?"
"I'm great just need to do something," Maddie said without even looking at him.
"What's this about?" April asked as Maddie shut the door and locked it. She took a deep breath
"Ok so did you know that I was still with Crispin when you first started to go out with him?"
"Oh my god, no. I'm so sorry, I honestly didn't-"
"It's fine, moving on. Well, basically I was at the bus stop this morning and he was with another girl. They were pda-ing and it was the most disgusting thing I've ever had to witness. And I don't want you to get hurt because-"
"I know he is," April said quietly
"What?" Maddie was confused
"I know he is. I've seen it. I broke up with him the first time, but then at the party we made out and then we were back. I felt like he was still with her but I didn't want to say anything. Then-" April almost continued, but stopped herself
"What? Then what?"
"It-it's Nothing,"
"Oh my god April he didn't r-"
"No! No, I-I've been self harming," April says with tears in her eyes
"April. I know how stupid you think you are right now, but trust me I can relate. Crispin 'broke' I developed an eating disorder, but this is too far. Go home, speak to your parents, please. I don't want this to happen to you, or anyone, get the help, April; I'm begging you," Maddie didn't tell her about her occasional relapses
"Will you come to reception with me?"
"Of course I will,"
They walked out of the room and saw Crispin sitting on one of the sofas. He jumped up to talk to April
"Get the fuck away from her." Maddie half shouted. The whole common room was watching but she didn't care.
"I need to talk to her,"
April piped up "Well I don't want to talk to you. Ever again."
"What's going on?" Ruth asked
Maddie ignored her and left the room, following behind April. Crispin looked at them, but Maddie looked right through him.
