I woke up on Saturday morning praying that it was all just a dream, that Kevin and I weren't actually going on a date. I assured myself that I had probably imagined it all so I decided to go and get something to eat.
Hannah was making breakfast when I went into the kitchen. She passed me a plate and I started to eat
"Are you ready for your date?"
"I was hoping that I had dreamt the entire thing" I groaned
"Well too bad....so are you ready?"
"I feel a little nervous......do you feel this way when you go out?"
"Only if I liked the person" she said giving me a mischievous grin "and don't behave like you've never been on one"
I rolled my eyes at her "Maybe he has forgotten about it, besides if he doesn't text then I can say that I forgot"
"Firstly that would be rude and secondly you are over thinking this, just let loose and have a little fun, where are you going anyways?"
"I don't know.....he asked me but I just told him that I didn't want to go to some fancy restaurant so he said he would figure it out"
"Even more interesting....." she drummed her chin with her finger tips "maybe he could take you to a strip club later on"
I reached out to hit her shoulder but she ran out of the kitchen laughing. I finished eating and went to take a shower though I mostly liked to shower then eat, but turns out I was too hungry and nervous today. I found a text from Kevin saying I can't wait to see you but I didn't reply. I threw myself on the bed and stared at the ceiling board there was no getting out of this now
We agreed that he would come and pick me up around five. Hannah tried to persuade me to out on a dress but I stuck to my jeans. She convinced me to wear black high waisted jeans and a crop top saying normal jeans were too much of the norm for me.
I let my thick black curly hair down and put a little eye liner and mascara. I put a pink shade of lip gloss on my lips just so they didn't look to plain. I wasn't a huge fan of makeup so it would have to work.
He texted telling me that he was outside so I said bye to Hannah and left. He was waiting for me in his car and when he saw me he came out so that he could open the door for me. He was wearing a white tee, a jacket and a pair of black jeans. His brown hair as usual looked messy and I liked it. I felt like I looked at him a little longer than I should have and I felt myself blush.
"I can manage" I smiled and got in
"You look great"
"Thanks you too....so where are we going?"
"Let's just say it's a surprise" he smiled and started the engine driving off to god knows where
The drive was silent, he would make conversation once in a while but I didn't really feel like chatting and he got the point after a few failed conversations. I felt so nervous and kept looking outside the window till we reached the park.
Someone would think that I had never dated before but I had, like a number of times. Something about this felt different but good different.
I smiled after realising where we were, sure it would practically be the two of us but at least there weren't many people huddled in one place.
"I hope this is fine....I didn't know exactly where to take you and I really wanted to go out with you....so the park is the best I could come up with"
"It's fine" I smiled
"We are going to have a picnic by the river, the sunset is amazing from here"
